Is This Feasable?

Just a random thought...
Now that I've had some time to play comm and been thinking strategy, has anyone used IP's as a way to transport troops directly to where there is conflict??

I mean, building and recycling IP's in various locations as what you are trying to achieve changes...

For example, build IP's in main base. When some d is setup at first hive, recycle IP's at base and put IP's there to finish building.

Move to next point, setup some d. TF and turrets, and then recycle old IP's and build new ones at new location.

There would always be IP's up, so people wouldn't get clogged and if something happened whereby they got destroyed, Simple matter of building new one's at base.

Same thing with Phase gates, setup a phase at main, then setup and tear down phases around the map to make sure troops are able to get back to main when needed.

Does this have any merit?? I'd try it out on a pub but it's such a different tactic that I'd be booted out of the chair quickly..

If this catches on and is used regularly, I think it should be named "The Zunni Technique"

IPs have to be in range of a cc.. unless you plan on spending 42 res on each ip... no.

Seen it used once. It's ok.

PG are better. Just because you need a CC to build the IP's.

A variant of this is the CC rush though. Create a backup CC outside an alien hive, build a couple IPs, then recycle the others at base, then attack relentlessly.

That's often a killer on publics where the Kharaa won't be able to organize enough to strike you when you're building...

No. Blitzkrieg is a tactic involving the fast deployment of mechanized infantry and armor with air support and a rapid advance towards the objective. Shock tactic.

nooo thats lame, CC should have to be built within a radius of the original CC. i hate it when marines just relocate their base over and over.

that's why I do it. If your first home doesn't work, sell it and move on. Get over it you European (kidding, since Euros move too, sometimes)!

It's a nice idea, too expensive for when I comm (I comm resource poor, hive rich)

Yes but also making multiple bases like in the two empty hives can be very good for defending the hives from the kharaa.

the CC rush seems like a good idea in theory but every game i've played where they've tried to do that I have won. Also every relocation game I have played against I've won, it takes too much time and money to pull those things off.

ooo i like that strat flayra. but how will LMGs bode against a hive with full health, and skulks regnning 20hp a tick?
  • Chopper_Dave1Chopper_Dave1 Join Date: 2002-11-01 Member: 2353Members
A team of 5 LMG-ers can take down a hive in about 10 seconds. It's honestly more effective to just do that, since aliens are usually pretty scattered in the sevrers I play in.

On ns_bast, you can make infantry portals right outside the engine room hive from the original CC.

Takes the aliens forever to figure out WTH happened and why you're being reinforced so fast. By the time they figure it out, it's too late.
