Res Nozzles That Run Out

While playing NS, I noticed something: When placing a res tower as a Gorge, the helpful popup menu sometimes displays "a resource tower will collect resources for your team until the nozzle runs out."

When facing some nozzles, the same popup will say "the resources from this nozzle are infinite."

So, my question is this... were 'disposable' nozzles ever in NS? Did nozzles run out of resources? Is this feature still in the game and available to mappers?

Resources nozzles run out when the whole ship/base runs out of resources. Theorically, it would take much longer than the time of a game, so the resources are infinite.

me seen this too and can`t help but think.

wow this would produce great strategestic possibilities for maps in the future.
with like infinte res point in the middle of the map, but i think the same can be done with this but with double res points like we have.

The nozzle used to "break" when a rt was destroyed on a nozzle before it was released. That's all I know.

Yes, nozzles used to run out during playtesting. However, it was almost impossible to tell when they had run out, and led to teams having lots of resource nodes but hardly any resources, which was not intuitive.

It would be neat to have some that run out (possibly give 4x the resources while available) and have the collector shut down and look different if not collecting anything anymore. IT might be a great way to allow different stratagies; pop a RT on a high speed nozzle early, knowing it will be gone soon or put it on an infinite nozzle and defend it for a longer game.

i was in a game that lasted HOURS... heck i think it was about 4 and a half.. res did run out, was a REAL close game.. but yeah, we ate the marines in the end =>

Also, it gets to the point where none of the resource nodes have any resources left, but both teams are well fortified. neither team can afford to get better tech to kill the other team, so the game lasts forever.

In 1.04, how much total res does the map have? Can it be set by the mapper or is it some default value that cannot be changed? Can total res output or output speed vary by the nozzle?

Is there any talk of this changing in 1.1?

Would be nice to keep the marines from turtling in their base with 1 node and still win. Good balancing feature it seems.

    This shouldn't happen.

I like the idea of them running out. Gold mines collapse and trees get chopped down in Warcraft.

Man what game are you playing? Maybe in a NS 1v1 or something. Turtling never leads to the marines "winning" Also I thought res nozzles were supposed to run out in tournament mode.

actually im pretty sure he meant "when the marines have 2 hives locked down, but the aliens control every res point on the map, therefore the game is a stalemate.

note: when placing a res node mapping, there *is* a variable that says the total amount of res for the node, however all this does is change the tooltip... mabe in tourny mode its diff i duno.
