Was: Handgrenades?
I just noticed that someone had asked about Handgrenade, but, will the marines have somekind of claymore mines and such at their disposal?

-Right now-, yes. They have laser tripmines, but again, like you'll probably hear for the rest of your stay here with us, this is subject to change.

the tripmine models right now are still placeholders right... because ns is a tc, so they -have- to change

I edited the topic for this thread.

Please, try to make topics that actually make sense, such as "Mines?" for a mine question, and "Handgrenades?" for a question regarding grenades. Not the other way around.

i think of tripmines as 'HLish'... personally i think it would be far cooler if the mines were proximity-type mines. this would make their placement all the more crucial as opposed to hitting all the different brush angles in a corridor.

having them as proximity mines would give aliens some chance of getting by them. eg, a corridor has been filled with oodles of boomy metal bits and a flyer approaches. with tripmines, cahnces are there is no conceivable way of getting through. with proximity mines there would be a slim chance that some skillful flying will get you through that tiny space were no mines will be triggered. in both cases the mines will be a great deterrent to alien movement, but in the case of proximity mines there is still some hope.

also asthetically, i always thought it would be above the skilled TSA troops to deploy something as obvious as a bright red laser. naturally mines need to be visible so that they arent super-exploited but wouldnt a CS-like bomb flash suffice?

On the SI disscusion forums, there was a topic on mines aswell, we were using the original tripmines which were easier to see in order not to slow down gameplay, anyway this guy posted that there sould be "proximity mines" that of course would explode if an enemy got too close to it.
thaen on the same post there as an idea that if the mine were a sock mine, if you step on it, it will take 20 hp off you, then the mine would over-load and explode taking 5 hp. the shock mine would be a god idea for this mod, since i think it sould be fast, but not turbo.

I think the idea of both Trip(proximity, i hope&#33 and anti-personal, or alien in this case mines have been discussed. I hope mines that are placed on the ground, a severe damaging AP mine, and a Prox mine are included, and as it is now, tripmines are useful as hell for guarding the command station and vents.
