wha? The purpose of have community made skins and models is because they are significantly better than the defaults.. You really are just using them for yourself. It shouldn't matter whether others can see them or not. It's a matter of personal preference. The people who make mods like the ns team have to make <b>everything</b> so they don't have the time to care about make super incredible models and skins... that's where the community comes in.
Let me get something straight. If people could see the skins other people were wearing, it would require you to download EVERYONE ELSES skins at first, before you could connect to the server. THEN people would hack the system (Jedi Knight) and create model hacks, skin hacks, etc. Imagine getting killed by 1 inch cube.
Also, skins you apply, if they have player or world view models, will be seen by you on other players. New player skin, ALL of the players on your computer of that type will have that skin.
