Or beginning to?
Alright, I'm in a 3rd year French class I would love to find someone who could speak french, or who is also learning to speak french in order to improve my fluency. I'd hate to think that I took 3 years of French in vain just so I can later forget it.

I took 3 years of Spanish in high school. I can read and write it, but I can't speak or listen to it worth a damn.

Oh well, at least I graduated under the distinguished program because I took 3 years of it.

No joke, In french it is seriously almost impossible to understand a fluent french speaker if you don't have any experience in verbally speaking it. When I try to understand it I can think of 4 words that sound exactly like what their saying, alot of the words sound the same its just that your expected to know what it is by context.

if you can afford it (timewise, there's scholarships for this kinda stuff out the wazoo if you know where to look) try to go to france for 4 mos-year. God knows I wouldn't dream of doing it (biased against french, plus paris smells, BAD). As for my german, it really helped, and playing DoD on German servers means I can understand what the americans AND germans are saying. Bonus of german: You already understand 1/2 of dutch if you speak both english and german.

Find some way of listening to French radio (if you live in the UK you can get it on longwave I believe). Listen to it each day for between 10-30 minutes. You'll soon find your listening skills and fluency improve, and also your accent. But listen to a news program, or something where more formal French is spoken. You won't get far listening to a program with a lot of slang or colloquialisms.

French+Italian=Fritaliench
Spanish+portuguese=Spaniguese
German+English=English with a thick accent

Je peux parler un peu de francais, mais il n'est pas tres bien =/

And Insane, I've been listening to some french rock. Theyre called Mass Hysteria and are sort of the french equivalent of Linkin Park.

It's extremely difficult to understand.

Yah, I wouldn't be surpised. It's often hard to decipher what English-speaking people are singing even without lots of guitar distortion and so-on. Not to mention whatever slang that they'll probably be using.

I took french for 3 years (7th, 8th, 9th). Now I take Latin. Freshman year @ college i'll take German. Junior year college i'll take Chinese, Japanese or Arabic.

Honestly, I hate French now. I can barely remember Je ne parlais pas bon francais. Only useful thing french is good for is cursing your friends in a strange dialect.

Nyet. I'm taking my parent's requirement of four years of language in high-school, and I am doing that taking Espanol (with a tilde over the n ). Like Flat, I can't really speak or listen to spanish worth a darn, but can read and write reasonably well for my level (currently in spanish II).

I also can say some of the Day of Defeat radio commands, but I have no idea what they are written like. I also have Ukranian cousins, so I picked up a few Russian insults from them (usually from them verbally beating on each other; it's very fun to watch, as they speak both Russian and English perfectly, and alternate between the two constantly).

Gotta love running around with some freinds, just randomly yelling at your freinds to watch out for snipers, and storm the front, and endless sries of "GO GO GO!" in german. FUNFUNFUN

You're probably just better off going to a French server for NS or something...I knew this German guy that went on English servers to better his English, and now not only does he know how to speak English, he knows all the gamer terms...lol...I was born in Quebec, so I know how to speak French pretty well. But like I said you'd be better off in French servers...You'll understand it eventually and learn some French swear words as well.

heh
los los los was so *** (not a good word, and I know they censor it whenever you use it in a good way, so I'll just pre-empt them) that most germans fought for a way to get their CS game back to english (those who knew how to play) and encouraged their friends to do the same.

Zion - Mass Hysteria Paroles

I and I feel IRIE
High life
ZION !!! "

I've been looking at alot of the lyrics and trying to place what time their saying what. But its still rather difficult. This song is actually pretty cool even though its hard to understand what their saying.
