<div class="IPBDescription">Just like in the movie "Aliens"</div> here's a new plugin I just got done with about 10 minutes ago. Here's what it does......
Whenever a marine turns on their flashlight it enables a motion tracking device which was designed to clone the one we have all seen in the movie "Aliens".
This audible motion tracking does NOT require any kind of upgrade to use, just flip it on/off with the flashlight.
source included
EDIT: new version of the plugin now posted here instead of the original

And besides, after the marines have motion tracking this thing is basically useless except for watching your back. Normal motion tracking has a much further range.
This is also a double-edged sword (or however that expression goes) in that aliens can hear the blips of a nearby motion tracking marine as well. So if marines don't wanna be heard then they would have to leave it off.
1) The pace of the idle blips is a little too fast.
2) Is there any way we can turn on the audiable motion tracking without turning on the actual flashlight beam or is this a side effect that can't be coded around?
Again, sweet sweet plugin!

P.S. Oh, BTW, I went to your website to see some stats on win/loss ratio for marines but wasn't able to find a page. What is your Marine and Alien win/loss? Marines seem to get creamed on my server.
i could code around the flashlight tie-in very easily. But as with my other plugins, I wanted to tie into controls that people already have instead of adding new confusing controls. If someone has a good solution for an enable/disable tie-in without the need for a whole new set of commands I'd be glad to switch it over.
and as far as my web site is concerned, there is no NS related information. That website is for a clan I founded just under 3 years ago for counter strike which has now mostly migrated to battlefield 1942 and just let's me still play with their server equipment since I didn't migrate with them <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
as for the marine win/loss ratio all I can say is this, I've only seen the marines win twice in a game bigger than 3v3 during the entire time I've run 1.04

For that reason I wouldn't put this plugin on my server, but props to you it looks damn fine.
about the mod, I'll be adding it to my server tonight... sounds cool <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Before I installed your comghost and phase pluggins, the marines on my server would lose, on the average, about 80 percent of the time. After the addition of the before mentioned pluggins I have seen the marines win many more games. However It is to early for psychostats to reflect anything at this point. Although the two mods that I did install have helped, I really contribute the marines lack of winning to poor commanding.
Im gonna wait a bit before I check out your new mod to see if the win/lose ratio starts to even out. I have a feeling that when commanders on my server start to figure out the phase mod, the marines are gonna start winning alot more. Something like this should have been included from the very beginning, IMHO.
For the moment it's off, have I done something stupid?

it can only load at changelevel or startup because it needs to dynamically allocate some data, so when loading just add it to the plugins.ini
Will the clients automatically download the sound files? Or do you need to create a .res file so that they have them?

I really wish I'd checked my log files and the metamod website before I'd posted this <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Maybe you can have two activating triggers. One for flashlight so people can get used to using it and another without flashlight that people can use once they get the idea of how it works.
Some suggestions:
*Double tap the Light Machine Gun or Pistol Key (slot 1 || slot 2) similar to laser sight mod I saw in the past.
*Use Slot 0 which I don't think is bound to anything. You could even run a bind key command on join.
I dunno, just trying to help. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

yeah, that was an unintended side-effect for the flashlight tie-in, but cool nonetheless
That's really the controlling factor. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I think that's where he got the sound files. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Here's what I'm planning for the next version when I get some time......
-range based volume, aliens further away make a smaller noise
-taking dead people out of the equation, (yeah I forgot to check for that, but I don't think it actually hurts anything right now)
-some dual controls unless people are opposed to that
-tweak the blip time a little to not be so fast and more consistent
-possibly rip some cleaner sound samples that are louder.
-Range based volume..... 100% - (( (range of alien) / (server range setting) ) * 100%) = output volume
-more consistent and slightly slower blip time
-dead people can't possibly motion track
-new client command to enable/disable tracking independant of flashlight "audiotracking_toggle" (it's mentioned in the new connection message)
-newer,cleaner, louder, smaller wav files
