Big Problems With Dedicated- And Listen-server

Hi,

I've got 3 PCs at home (2x Win32, 1x Linux-Server).
I played NS by creating a listenserver on Client A, and thought, "woohoo, looks GREAT, I've gotta test it on LAN", so I installed NS on the other WinClient and set up the dedicated server on my Linux-machine.

I was able to connect to my linux-server via Client A; trying to connect via Client B I get a message like "You're trying to connect to a server running a HL-mod which you don't have installed" (NS is installed)

I then tought, "okay, I just wanna see that game, let's start listenserver". On both Clients A+B I could not create a listenserver because instead of NS-Maps the standard HL-Maps are shown!!
Funny thing, because it used to work before connecting to my linux server.

My questions now are:
1. Why can't I create a listenserver anymore? Did my linux-PC crash something?
2. Why won't my client B connect to my linux-machine?

I hope, anyone can help me. I really wanna play this game (and bring it to our next Clan-LAN-Party)

Sounds like you are using the buggy desktop shortcut. Just try:

    1. Using the start menu shortcut or
    2. Running hl.exe and activating ns in the custom games menu

Hope this helps. Welcome to NS!

This could be it (I'm not sure).

I'm sure I started NS on Client B via Desktop; but I think I started Client A via Start-Menu.

But I'll try. Seems like it would be good to delete the desktop-icon.

    THX a lot.

Yet again, this is definitely the desktop shortcut... you need to edit its properties, and fix the 'Start In' to your base HL directory (NOT the NS subdir) and it'll work just fine.
