How do i make one?
I am not new to the game, I've been around since the beggining. I had to start a new forum account though because i lost my old password. Even though i am not new, this is a failry newbish question:
How do i make a demo? How do i record the game? Is there software i have to download? Where is it?
I would really appreciate if someone could help me out, as i am working on a little project of my own, which requires the usage of game recordings.

should cross over ok if u find one that does not use the command menu
but what kind of file are they turned into?
Am I able to edit them with any cheap programs? As i said, I am working on a little project that should be some fun.
I'll clue you all in some time in the future when I sort it all out.
I think you can convert them to workable file types, and then mess with them in Premiere or something.
playdemo filename
startmovie filename framerate
endmovie
I'd suggest you to bind the startmovie command.
Lastly, where do the bmp's save to? i can' tfind them in any of the half life folders
Lastly (again), the bmp's are not gonna work for what i have in mind, takes up way to much space, and i don't want to figure out how to animate them with whichever program you guys have. Is there anyway to convert the .dem into an MPEG, AVI, or any other editable forms? (NS Trailer crew, I'm hinting in your direction)
Think time-lapse photography
To have your voice recorded, you must have the following entered in the console:
voice_loopback 1
You will hear your own voice with a half a second delay, and it will be recorded in your demo. The unfortunate thing is, often upon hearing your voice, you stop talking to listen after a few words because of the half second delay. It's interesting to attempt to work around, but to shut it off,
voice_loopback 0
Works in all mods with voice support. Enjoy
You have 70 FPS in the game but NEVER take it in the video. Your TV plays with 24 FPS (at least in Europe I think it's 30 or 35 in the USA), and if you want small images you should set the lower framerate possible. Try 15 or 20.
Another thing: Decrease your resolution to 320x200 when recording the BMPs from the DEM file.
To make an AVI file, you can use Fast Movie Processor (it's called VideoMach now). FMP was freeware for non-commercial use.
The best video editor is Adobe Premiere.
If you want to record the sound, you can use Total Recorder.
I have seen it done but no idea how
