how dare you...
I read a little something about this in another thread and decided to test it for myself. It has to do with the lerk spines, and the model/animation. For those of you who dont wanna read the thread, the spines are an illusion. You dont have to aim where the spine model is firing to, just put your crosshair where it needs to be and fire.
The spine animation dips down as you fire. I always thought that you had to aim your screen so the spines would dip down to your target. With a fellow SoBe, we tested this and its not the case. Even if it looks like the spines are hitting in front of your face...they still go where the crosshair is. A good example of the spines "hitting you in the face" is when you are trying to hit stuff down below at the power silo hive. If you look over the ledges and try to fire at something directly below you, it looks like the spines arent going down...it looks like they are hitting the ground right infront of you when they are actually going to their target. This is great news for lerks (like me) that always had to peer a little more over that edge in order to do damage.
In conclusion, when you are lerking, all you need to do is put the crosshair where you want to do damage. Dont worry about where the spine model is going!

Lerk spikes are hitscan, just like marine weapons.
What would be horrendous is if acid rocket was the same :\
cause, we all know he deliberately and maliciously tried to deceive us all ...
because, thats just the kind of person he is ...

As long as you can fire downwards while sitting on a railing (think the great viaduct hive) - the spikes always hits the railing if you need to fire (almost) straight down.
spikes are not like acid rockets, they should not poke the attacker who misses the attackee!
Yes, that guy who spams the board so much... man he got like, what, 6 pips for 5000+ posts? Flayrasomething I think. He got the Know. He'll probably let us know at some point.
Let's nerf the pistol too by that logic. (Which I might actually agree with - pistol is powerful!)
Aimbots? I can say the same for the marines! If lerk+aimbot = killing machine then marine+aimbot=even more powerful killing machine.
That's definately the best arguement for hitscan.
And I'd hate to see what would happen if they treated bullets ballisticly. Oh the lag!
