Request
If anyone has made a nade launcher replacement, plz post link's and pics, or if you are planning to make one please let me know. The nade launcher now was originally an HMG and I personally don't like it. Well thanks in advance, also please note the search isn't working (for me at least, at this moment).

Just a note-- the official one is going to be replaced in 1.1 if I can get my act together.

Working on it now . . .

Woah, sweet! That's great news, I've always found the gren launcher looks a bit *lacking*. See, this is what I love about NS, real feedback from real developers making a really good game. Love it

Yeah, as was mentioned, the one in there right now was originally intended to be the hmg (in fact, it was the first weapon modeled for the game) . . . but it never really looked the part, especially when the ammo count was increased. We swapped it for the nade launcher as a development stand in, but the response was positive enough from the playtesters that we decided it could ride as the nade launcher for the initial launch.

I've always had it labeled for a major overhaul, but the big stumbling block was the ammo count-- it was up in the air for a long time, so we couldn't really attempt a very specific design (say, one with a rotating cylinder of grenades or such).

Now it looks like that's set, so once I get my butt in gear, we'll have a replacement.

i can't imagine the hmg as the nade launcher and vice versa, but i think that's just me....

i've got a replacement GL it's got some funny sounds, but i think i'll try and hunt down the files on my computer and post it on my website.... i said i wasn't going to update it, but i might as well... since i've already got it.

I'm actually using the nade launcher model as my LMG right now, lol...
It just didn't look right as the launcher and I'm not a big fan of the LMG model (seems too 20th century to be in a sci-fi theme) but it actually looks pretty good as an LMG.

Actually, at some point I will be giving the lmg a moderate workover-- but for the most part, I'll be trying to make it look a little more intimidating (and making the scope look less scope-ish).

I'll probably try to make it look a little less dated, but I intentionally avoided a highly polished futuristic design-- the TSA is supposed to be poorly funded, so I based it off the sten (plus I like the whole side clip thing. Yes, I am aware that some people don't, so there's no need to chime in with that)-- a dirty, odd little gun that was only popular because it was ridiculously cheap to mass produce.

ever think of adding a rifle to the game?
Probably not but I'm a big rifle fan

Thats a really good idea Narf! Maybe I should use the super sexy grenade launcher reskin thing(Don't know the story behind it buts its amazing) instead....

Yay... the Grenade Laucher is getting replaced... I mean, I liked it and all... it just seemed to... machine-gunny for me. I mean... a scope on a grenade laucher..? Whent the time comes, though, I might think about replacing the LMG with it...

And I like the little story behind the LMG. How it's cheap and odd, and easily mass produced. So keep the "Old and true" design and just touch it up a bit (Please note... these are not "demands" just merely "suggestions" )

Thanks for your time,

The scope on the grenade launcher makes perfect sense. Wouldn't you like ballistic info while launching grenades? Although it wouldn't be balanced in game, the GG scope is a lot like the OICW's ballistic computer that makes 20mm explosive rounds sing and dance before shooting shrapnel around corners.

Nep, you're brialliant. I forgot all about the ballistic Info the scope could read.
Thanks,

You were completely right about it in the game context. The grenade launcher doesn't do anything like what I mentioned in the game. I just haven't posted in a while, and I'm on a spree today

Funny how the texture for the GL are given the prefix hmg, and the textures for the HMG are given the prefix hmg2, isn't it? You can almost tell that the the GL was a candidate for HMG at some time, even without a dev telling you thats exactly what the model was designed as.

Not yet . . . . I've got to hustle on it, though.

Yep. Actually, a lot of the texture file names end up getting mangled because I have no coherent naming systems, and tend to save many, many versions of each psd as I work along, often just tacking on random numbers and letters. I've got to work on that.

And yeah, the scope on top of the gl is a remnant from the oicw inspiration. I had a thing for scopes during development . . .
