The font used for NS is "minion", a pay font, meaning it isn't allowed to be included in the media pack. Sorry.

And damn guys, these are looking good, it's gonna be hard to narrow these down to the top 5 for voting

except for the stuff from ns of course. and the fonts i used from microsoft, i believe. and i photoshoped it..

comments please?

and yes, it is red. and i do remember reading earlier that red ain't too.. frontiersmanly. but..... red is a good complement for blue even though orange is the actual complement for blue. poo

so far the only ones that strike me as being somewhat close to the color scheme are ramses's and insane's. the others look kind of out of place. uranium's and jobabob's are nice looking, as well as scabbage's, they just ned a bit of color tweaking. ramses, i don't think that green strip fits, but the rest is nice, and insane i think the left could blend a little bit well with the middle, and the middle needs a bit of work, but i really like your left image. i think i'll take a stab at it tonight... how do i preview the images in action? just put them in temp. internet files?

The font 'Minion' isn't too hard to find for free... I don't believe in paying $20+ for something that doesn't cost much, if anything, to make, and that you'll use... once? I'd link you up, but the moderators may frown on it...

Man, I only found out about this just now, if I had found out sooner I might have something already.. there's still time, and if I get back from the pub early enough on Friday night, might produce something worthy.

I do like duBER's expressive experimental style though, it's the most original one so far.

umm i think you missed the rules
the center part has to be a certain size and repeat
you cant have text in the middle like that

other than that it looks cool

RE: Rules - is there any reason for the rules?
Aren't the real rules something more like:

Total image must scale nicely width wise

Total image must not cause horizontal scrolling at browser width of >= 800 (or 600 or whatever)

I know how the skinning system works and it's (extremely) easy to not use exactly the same size image they are currently using.

EDIT: And is there a reason you're all insisting on posting wide images? There's no need to show us 600 pixels of your repeating image. Chop out the middle area. Avoid horizontal scrolling for those of us who choose not to open the browser full screen (or who are running less then 1280X1024).

The 'clean' version. (I'm heavy on the minimalistic approach.. makes for smaller downloads and a less cluttered page)

...and, the over-used, yet popular NVG look put on the same minimalist design. Makes it a little hard to read IMHO, but looks like something you might get on a remote station, where the transit feed isn't all that good.
• Sephiroth2kSephiroth2k Join Date: 2002-04-21 Member: 481Members, Constellation
talesin, that effect is cool, but the text is hard to read. make a layer with the normal text over it, and it should be easier to read..

Once again, PLEASE remove some of the HUGE center (repeating) area from your images before posting. Horizontal scrolling = bad.

Here's my partial contribution. You don't have to pay attention to the graphic...just please add the latin quote to the winning submission:

nam et ipsa scientia potestas est.
(for knowledge itself is power.)
