net_send packet error
when i play ns on my 56k modem, halfway through a game i will often get a huge lag spike, leading to an error message popping up saying net_send packet error, then ns crashes? i then have to ctrl+alt+del hl and recconnect to then net, i can sometimes stay online for 3 hours or more without being dissconnected when im not playing ns, but when i play ns it seems to happen a whole lot more, i tried getting a new isp, and it hasnt really made alot of difference, i think it may be my modem, but before i splash out on an external hardware modem, i wanted to know if this is a known ns bug or what?

Depends on what your actual connection is. If you have a 56k modem but you have cruddy phone lines you may not be getting the connection you think you are getting. Also the modem plays a good part of it. If you have one of those HSP, HCP, HSF, PCTEL Micromodem, Aztec winmodem pieces of crap you will have problems regardless.

Try being a little more conservative on yor modem settings. In the game open you console and type the following:

    cl_cmdrate 22
    cl_updaterate 22
    rate 4500

Are you running WinXp? I had that problem. I got rid of QoS Packet Scheduler on my connections TCP/IP settings and it hasnt happened since.

I belive this problem is caused because your modem disconnects from the Internet and your IP address changes. Half-Life doesn't like this and crashes. I've heard of it happening on Win2k & Win XP. I don't know a solution for it yet. :/
