Whats The Range Of An Onos' Paralyze?

?
I used to believe that if an onos wanted to paralyze someone, he had to walk right up to the marine and tag him. But a few days ago, on ns_lost, i was a marine and had flown across a chasm to hide on the side. There was no way an onos could even get near me. Anyway, it wasnt long until the aliens found me, and the first alien to find me was an onos. He was about 20 yards away from me (hard to gauge, but still a good distance), and the first thing he did when he saw me was paralyze me!! He contiuned to paralyze me until a skulk came and blew me to peices with xenocide. Needless to say i was confused.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Paralyze is a ranged ability. I think the range is pretty much the same as parasite.

The paralyze is a ranged attack. Dunno how far it goes, but it is ranged.
Great when JPers are flying around and you cant reach..

thats stupid, it totally clashes with the paralyze animation

No it doesnt, because if you look closely, you can see 3 spikes coming out of those tubey thingies.

But i hate the fact that when you paralyse a team of 8 hmg ha, they just turn round on the spot, and fire 100000 million bullets into you, and the onos dies v quickly

Anyone ever get a kill with paralize? I wa an onos the other day, and I noticed that I had killed someone, but the kill icon was the one you get when you suicide, like a skull and crossbones. When I pulled down the console it said "Link killed a marine with a forgetable name with paralize"?

Anyone explain this?

Paralyse doesn't do any damage.

A number of times I've technically gotten "paralyze kills" because I tagged a jetpacker wh then plunged down out of the sky and cratered. Big splat. Blood sprites everywhere. Took the cleaning crew over an hour just to get the sprites off the walls.

But no... you can't really kill someone with paralyse any more than you can with webs. I just guess the game knows when you do something cool and gives you credit... Like when you blow up a mine and take a marine with it, you get credit. I'll have to try that sometime... webbing high up places to get splat kills.

You can get a paralyze kill or primal scream kill easily.

Here are the steps:

#1 Become Onos.
#2 Find a Marine.
#3 Change your weapon to charge.
#4 Start charging towards the marine.
#5 Quickly change your weapon to paralyze or primal scream.
#6 Kill the marine with your charge attack, but still keep your weapon on paralyze or primal scream.
#7 Check your console for your paralyze/primal scream kill.

EDIT: You can also do this with the skulk's leap, but its a LOT harder because leap is very short and hard to kill with (for me anyways).

I know this is probably an old thread, but would there be any way to get umbra/web kills?? As in, use spores, then switch to umbra quickly? Or babbler, then switch to web? If so, that's pretty awesome..

Yeah, it seems that sometimes the server will just assume you killed the guy with your current weapon. Kinda strange.

And i will add that yes, paralyze is ranged, i think its about the range of parasite.

Paralysis is a pretty useful command vs jpers, also it's pretty balanced and ranged, I only think this should also disable weapons. Kinda defeats the purpose if you can shoot while paralyzed at the guy that paralyzed you..I always get regen, adren, and paralyse the last guy for someone else...

It doesnt make sense to have it on onos, they kill in no time and they can stop ppl from running to try and get away, plus charge is abit of a fast speed boost. It doesnt look right seeing an onos move that fast.

Sadly, someone managed to get a kill with a second-Hive weapon, but switched it over and had it show up as a third-Hive ability kill on a server I was playing on last night. An admin was on (playing as a Marine) and kickbanned him, even though I attempted to explain why it showed up when the aliens only had single-hive at the time.

Xenocide exploit. It is harmless. It razzes the kids, sure, but the only thing that happens is that you kill a guy with leap but are shown the xenocide kill sprite. Can also do it with the onos' primal scream I believe. It is impossible to get xeno with 2 hives. I think it's a basic design flaw of half-life. It should be no more ban reason than using bunny hopping.

ban reason allows you to go faster than a skulk. Even in backpedal. Is that fair compared to a sprite + log error?

Please, not another bunny-hopping thread.

Please, why dig this up, you must know this has been discussed to death. Do you think its Shergar?
