What a dissapointment that was, maybe everyone but me gets a nostalgia trip when they play this game or something, but I experienced something that I never once did in Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask, boredom... It started off alright but it got worse and worse the farther you got, the dungeons plain sucked, I spent hours searching for the solution of what looked like a clever puzzle, and would finally find a tiny staircase in some corner that I'd missed, which would lead to an item which would get me to the end of the dungeon, which would feature a boss that you had to use said item to defeat. The basic formula is: Get keys, get item, use item to get to boss, kill boss with item. Granted, the game still has its merits: it's over twice as long as either of the N64 games, it has a nicely sized overworld, some great puzzles, some good fights, a nice combat system, and many people don't know this but there is a stealth element in there too, you can sneak past the guards if you want, is that cool or what? The problem is that none of the good stuff is in the dungeons. I like your other SNES choices, you left a few out though:
Super Metroid - Nuff said
Tales of Phantasia - not quite as good as squaresoft's work but a good game nonetheless
Star Ocean - Vaguely similar to TOP but way better
Blackthorne - A very good platformer-ish game that requires a lot of thinking, even though you have a shotgun with unlimited ammo you still have to rely on stealth or you will get your **** whupped, made by Blizzard of all people
Secret of Mana 1 & 2 aka Seiken Denitsu 2 & 3 (Dark Forces anybody?) - Kind of like a real-time Final Fantasy
With that aside, you think Chrono Trigger is the best rpg ever? I admit that I've beaten it about 5 million times and loved it all the way through but there are way better games, such as the Elder Scrolls 2 & 3, Ultima Underworld 1 & 2 (not as good as the ES series imo but better than CT), and theres anything made by bioware prior to Neverwinter Nights. Also, Chrono trigger is not an RPG, so don't call it one, far too many people consider an "RPG" to be "A game in which you level up" It's not, in fact, you don't even have to have a leveling system to make an rpg (<a href='http://www.eliteclub.co.uk' target='_blank'>Elite</a> is an excelent example of this). A "roleplaying game" has to be completly freeform, if you want an example of this you should play morrowind (it will also make you forget all about chrono trigger).

Ok, I agree with everything up from UT, but below that its just wierd, first of all, why not UT2K3? Its better looking, actually has some balance between the weapons, and has some really cool new gametypes, the only problem with the whole thing is that they took out assault! Why they would take out the best part of UT is beyond me, but UT2K3 is still a better game. Then we come to Force Commander, it is a known fact that this game blows chunks, period, if you really want a star wars rts you should get Galactic Battlegrounds, its a hundred times better than Farce Commander. Never played B&W but Ive heard good things about it. And then we come to Jedi Knight, seriously, what the HELL is this doing here? Did you put it in the wrong list by mistake or something? I repeat, what the HELL? Then theres Diablo 2, its not a bad game, hell, its even a good game, but it is vastly inferior to the original diablo (which is still in stores btw), it tries too hard to be an rpg (if you consider a Final Fantasy game an rpg) and falls flat on its face, Diablo 1 has this addictive, almost arcadelike quality that isn't present in the sequel, I agree with you that D2 should not be bought (unless you play D1 24/7, then you'd probably like D2 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ). I was unfortunate enough to purchase Black and White. Never got past the second level. It got really boring. I wanted that stupid creature to grow up for crying out loud. After all that waiting...what a dissapointment.
B&W is a good game as long you are going forward in the game, when you it starts going slow, usually at the later levels, it REALLY starts to get boring FAST! and i only thinks there's 5-6 levels, but im not sure.

thx for reminding me of those super games, super metroid kicks ****, secret of mana and seken sensetsu 3 was also good, TOP was also good.
Chrono Trigger IS an RPG, but its a linear rpg, common style for the japs, and yes, i have played morrowind, no i havent forgotten about CT, ok, so let me rephrase the my CT description. One of the Greatest Linear RPGs, better? morrowind is a free form rpg, and CT is a linear, ok, point made.
JK1 sucks compared to many other games, you might think "Oh, JK 1 must be good because JK2 kicked ****!!" No, it doesnt, in JK1, your force powers were ok, but your light saber skills SUCKED!!! no, not just sucked, were non-existant. In JK2 you have the 3 styles and the cool attacks, in JK1 you got block and slice, not very impressive, single player was ok, i guess, multiplayer sucked cuz the maps were much to large, so half the game was spent trying to find an enemy to kil (not fun), if you think i meant JK2, then no, that is good, if you mean JK 1, then go ahead and like it.
B&W had high ratings, but the game was buggy, the people were demandent, and when you get your creature, some guy takes him away soon after and imprisiones him, i never played B&W after lvl 3 cuz i just got **** off and bored with the game. The idea was good, the game sucked.
Force Commander is good, but the balance between Rebels and Imps is off the scale, rebs have no chance of beating imps if they have 6 at-ats, GB is good, but since all the guys have the same stats, i find it weird that Rebel Troopers are as strong as Storm Troopers, who wear heavier armor, (actually, rebels have BETTER troopers, which doesnt make sense), also, the ATAT is just as strong as the rebel and gungan heavy mech, not even a bit stronger. This game is a bit weird to a star wars fan (like me) because it seems that according to this game, the rebels should have problem against imps.
outpost starts with something like "If you crash into the sun, you will make the Human Race go extinct. Have a nice day." Then "If you dont feed your citizens, they will starve and die. Have a nice day." Isnt that great to har, 1000s of possiblities of how to screw over the human race and this machine tells you "Have a nice day." after each possibility (im not kidding it does.) i think its outpost, might be another game.

Blasphemy!!!! The snes kicked super ****!!! it was a great system, with some of the greatest games!!! I still care, and there are those that allow snes downloads, a group recently finished translating Bahamut Lagoon, im sure they care about the SNES!!! The NES also had a lot of good games, like the original Mario, how can you say that Mario Sucked?! It was a cool game, weird yes, but better than some of his newer games, like "Mario teached potty training." (ok, so they dont have THAT, but they do have wierd stuff that does come close). Im sure you played the oringinal mario. who hasnt? anyone who hasnt is most unfortunate.
So now, Thansal, you have a large choice of games, all SNES and NES, old pc games like Doom and Duke Nukem, UT1 (for cheap), B&W was as expensive as hell, HL, HL mods, Sacrifice (i think thats cheap), and more.

as ofr SNES, yes I know I have a VERY VERY large ROMs dir, however lets drag this back ontopic before it gets locked for emulation (remember it is illegal, and the mods are in the right for locking things like that soooo)
GIANT YANK BACK On TOPIC
Does any one have a reliable way of (legaly) getting games that are nolonger in print?
go to flea markets, ebay, over the internet, random stores you know that sell old games, random stores and hope they sell old and cheap games, i dunno.
Septerra Core is a great game. Kinda like Final Fantasy without the cheesyness factor (my sword is bigger than your body, but it only does 1 damage!). <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> yes, that is weird in ffs, but i still like them, they were good, and had some of the best stories, also, the Japanese have this thing about BIG, not sure why, but they have BIG robots, BIG swords, BIG monsters, i think if it were American made, the monsters would in general be human size, and the swords reasonable. In FF6, the only swords that were HUGE were the atma weapon with 9999 health, the illumina, and the excalibur, and the ragnarok. In FF7, all of Clouds swords, Sephiroth had a REALLY LONG sword, but he really kicked **** with it, not 1 damage, but 3000. All big weapons, (except monsters, who the japanese make big, and Clouds starting weapons) tend to slaughter. dont ask me why the japanese make BIG swords that do puny damage, they just do.

Also, Chrono trigger is not an RPG, so don't call it one, far too many people consider an "RPG" to be "A game in which you level up" It's not, in fact, you don't even have to have a leveling system to make an rpg (Elite is an excelent example of this). A "roleplaying game" has to be completly freeform, if you want an example of this you should play morrowind (it will also make you forget all about chrono trigger). <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
thx for reminding me of those super games, super metroid kicks ****, secret of mana and seken sensetsu 3 was also good, TOP was also good.

Septerra Core is a great game. Kinda like Final Fantasy without the cheesyness factor (my sword is bigger than your body, but it only does 1 damage!).

yes, that is weird in ffs, but i still like them, they were good, and had some of the best stories, also, the Japanese have this thing about BIG, not sure why, but they have BIG robots, BIG swords, BIG monsters, i think if it were American made, the monsters would in general be human size, and the swords reasonable. All big weapons, (except monsters, who the japanese make big, and Clouds starting weapons) tend to slaughter. dont ask me why the japanese make BIG swords that do puny damage, they just do.
oh, im a big Final Fantasy Fan, so um.. yeah
Thansal: If you find Jedi Knight in a bargain bin, BUY IT! You won't regret it, worth the whole $10 5 times over!
