<div class="IPBDescription">the stargate</div> Don't you think that a mini-stargate on a stand (or even a flat one in a box, like in some episodes) would be the perfect phase replacement? would require a few new sounds, but they wouldn't be too hard to find, surely. Please, someone make this. 1. The deploy anim would be the iris thingy opening then instead of those sprites (imo they are ****)
2. You would have an outer ring on it that would spin and create the portal stuff

Dude it wasnt active,you cant have 2 active stargates in one planet,you could see that in one episode

I'm gonna go see if i can find some stargate sounds and replace the phase ones.
And also, what about the hitboxes of NS? Aren't they implented the same way as in for example Counter-Strike?
That would mean you can't make something as big (even if it was as broad as the actual phase, it would still be too tall for the hitbox) as a stargate.
And those teleportation rings, that's some advanced modeling, so don't expect it to happen.
I don't intend to bring any hopes down, but just to make everyone realize what we actually have to work with.
I think you're right there.
And something else, the ns teleporting is instant, while those rings need some time to play an animation. It could be possible, but then the rings would be going up and down, while the player has already been teleported. And just like a small stargate i think it would obstruct view (big ring in your face).
I think then the only option left is a stargate-like phase gate on the floor like the original phase gate.
But i do believe the phase has two different animation for when there are more than one phases online, or it's just the only one. Then you could make a floor-stargate with a closed iris. That would be nice.
One last thing, the animation of those light orbs that come from an active phase gate could be replaced to, but i think those are not included in the model <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
that one is more about sprite editing rather than modeling....

When this potential model would not be built it would be closed and not spining. Once built the the deploy animations would consist of the iris door opening up and an outer "rim" with teh fucky symbols on it would spin, like the show. If making a new model seems impractical then we could just kinda h4x the original replace the sounds and make a new sprite or whatever that anyoing glowing thing is.
The phase gate "lighting up" when activated is a code string that starts a light source, and those thingies coming out of the phase are all sprites, also coded to start when it's activated. Neither the light nor the sprites have anything to do with the model of the actual phase gate.
