<div class="IPBDescription">the stargate</div> Don't you think that a mini-stargate on a stand (or even a flat one in a box, like in some episodes) would be the perfect phase replacement? would require a few new sounds, but they wouldn't be too hard to find, surely. Please, someone make this.     Ya that would be wicked i would love to see that the deploy anim could be the stargate opening up and such

    It could be flat on the ground and for the deploy animation it could open up a little iris dealy and then that big plasma thingy blasts up

    Dude i think transportation rings would be better,one mod got em working,i just need wad editor what can extrat the models,i got the textures and sounds already.

    Destroyer you need to make it more clear of what your talking about. This transportation ring sounds alot like the stargate btw im gonna start leaning to model and i might give it a shot although it'll be a while.

    Transporation Rings,like stargate,convert the transportable Object/human to energy,but unlike stargate this doesnt dial to other planets(but can be used to be transported from moon to planet),used in most Goa'uld vessels expect Death Gliders,Transportation rings also dont need DHD what stargate needs,also multiple stargates on planet cant exist,because there can be only 1 active stargate in a planet.but one problem is that how we make so that when user presses e on the place of phase gate that rings would come down and transport the player?

    Here's what I would plan for this model if I could model/animate

    1. The deploy anim would be the iris thingy opening then instead of those sprites (imo they are ****)
    2. You would have an outer ring on it that would spin and create the portal stuff

    anyway i don tthink anyone wil dothis btw!

    Dude it wasnt active,you cant have 2 active stargates in one planet,you could see that in one episode

    Not to be pessimistic here but I believe that you can't make the model move when pressing USE unless that has been coded (start the animation), since the model doesn't know that you've pressed USE on it, and the NS team has no animation to the actual Phase Gate as you enter it (if it really has, I surely missed it).

    And also, what about the hitboxes of NS? Aren't they implented the same way as in for example Counter-Strike?
    That would mean you can't make something as big (even if it was as broad as the actual phase, it would still be too tall for the hitbox) as a stargate.

    And those teleportation rings, that's some advanced modeling, so don't expect it to happen.

    I don't intend to bring any hopes down, but just to make everyone realize what we actually have to work with.

    I think you're right there.

    And something else, the ns teleporting is instant, while those rings need some time to play an animation. It could be possible, but then the rings would be going up and down, while the player has already been teleported. And just like a small stargate i think it would obstruct view (big ring in your face).

    I think then the only option left is a stargate-like phase gate on the floor like the original phase gate.
    But i do believe the phase has two different animation for when there are more than one phases online, or it's just the only one. Then you could make a floor-stargate with a closed iris. That would be nice.

    One last thing, the animation of those light orbs that come from an active phase gate could be replaced to, but i think those are not included in the model <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I said in the first post, MINI stargate. Which means "small". What i was thinking is one with nothing else to link to had the iris on, and one that was "on" had the water type stuff and everything. Obviously this would be impossible to do 100% true to the show, but I like stargate too much to let this one pass <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    i think to make the circle one (i saw that ONE episode <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ) you'd have to edit the sprites too (to get your animation)
    that one is more about sprite editing rather than modeling....

    There were actually 3 stargates on earth, the US had one (SGC), russia had one, and there was the one they found in antartica. Russia was also sending people out while the SGC was, so you can have 2 or more active gates on a planet. However, they cannot dial from gate to gate on the same planet. But you can dial to the other gates from a different planet.

    i dont think you guys understand it would be more of a reskin and reanimating rather than a new model. The stargate i was thinking of would be more like the current PG it would be horizontal and when it was not built it would look something like this

    When this potential model would not be built it would be closed and not spining. Once built the the deploy animations would consist of the iris door opening up and an outer "rim" with teh fucky symbols on it would spin, like the show. If making a new model seems impractical then we could just kinda h4x the original replace the sounds and make a new sprite or whatever that anyoing glowing thing is.

    yup. the "glowing" animation is actually the ns code activating the sprites for the phase. those are hard-coded i believe.

    Vecdran is totally right.

    The phase gate "lighting up" when activated is a code string that starts a light source, and those thingies coming out of the phase are all sprites, also coded to start when it's activated. Neither the light nor the sprites have anything to do with the model of the actual phase gate.

    Damn oh well, I didnt realy think this model would realy make it just because of the lack of modelers willing to make a custom model.
