NEW YORK — The actor who gained fame and a cult following as the slacker "Steven" in commercials for Dell computers was arrested buying a small bag of marijuana, police said.
Benjamin Curtis, 22, was arraigned yesterday on a misdemeanor drug possession charge. The charge assumes a suspect is not carrying more than a "use amount" — enough to roll several marijuana cigarettes.
Police said he was arrested Sunday night.
Curtis' portrayal of a surfer type who proclaims, "Dude, yer gettin' a Dell!" drove up computer sales and spawned T-shirts, caps, and backpacks, along with Web sites and online fan clubs.
A spokesman for Texas-based Dell said no decision has been made on future Curtis ads.

By the way, whats up with spydey?? Why is a jet of water (as far as i know its meaning) so offensive? <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Don't make comments defending people unless you know what was originally said.

Its not a matter of evil, or good. Its a matter of laws, agreed on by the masses, and the enforcement of those laws. like you said, its not like he is doomed to die. But it will mess up his carreer a bit. Its illegal to smoke pot, regardless of what our personaly opinions on it may be. So he does deserve some minor jail time, or lots of community service.
As for a jet of water.....*breaks down laughing*. There are times, when we americans realize how much we differ in speach from our English Cousins.
I cannot stop laughing.
Oh, and for those that don't know, this guy does all of the American (?) commercials for Dell. He has no talent as an actor and is extremly annoying. In my opinion, anyway.

p.s. ignore my earlier post because it would point me out as being a.... well work it out for yourself.
Generally for first time offenses the system is not too harsh, I live in miami beach, and was stopped a while back for having open containers of alcohol in my car (and I'm under age). I expected that to be a harsh punish, but all they did was put me in the advocate program (where you go for meetings with other people who abuse substances). I was expecting to lose my license and jail/juvenile time.
About a month ago I was behaving, but was with a friend who apparently the cops were looking for, they arrested him, but in the process searched me and found the fake id i use to go to clubs, buy liquor, etc.
I was expecting them to just tear it up and throw it out, instead I find myself in the miami date county jail for 48 hours, and lemme tell you, if you were familiar with the prison system in major cities in america, that's the last thing you'd wish upon a person who was only caught smoking some pot.
<shudders>
Yeah, the law may be the law, but it doesn't make it right, and it certainly doesn't always mean its common sense that's applied, but that's why its the law, you don't have a say in the matter.
Depending on the guy's record, he'll prolly either have to do community service, or at worst pay some fines on top, but probably not jail time.
