The Clan Scene - European

I'm sitting here, looking at clanbase.com ns ladder, and the only competition my clan actually has is in fact newbies, to grow up the ladder, no clan above us wants to lose officially, so what exactly is the point?

Were currently 5th not going anywhere, I'm not prepared to bash newbie clans (which is what the clans above us simply do) for easy points ending up demoralizing them, thinking that this was a good game but instead just utterly lame - rush tactics that's the simplest way of getting the job done.

Is it just me, or are most of these clans run by complete llamas that really don't like possibility of a loss?
It's not just the balance flaws in NS that's killing the clan scene nor is it the marine tech-rushing being the most common easiest way to win, it is in fact the clans themselves. (I hope most realise there will be some balance fixing for clan play in 1.1 as flayra stated)

I'd like to beat the clans above us 'officially' so I can then get onto playing Americas best clan sYn in 'top europe clan' vs. 'top american clan' hopefully it'll give the ns clan scene a little motion, especially if flayra gets a little involved (I do understand he's into promoting the clan scene - as he did over the interview as clans are a huge part of the long-term survival of NS).

Serious clans will therefore have some sort of reason to be the #1 as they are recognised by someone who has the power to inform the whole NS playerbase. Eventually decent competitions and leagues will begin to form.

You can't exactly say this would be a bad thing can you?

This is part of competitive play. If you don't like that then you shouldn't be in a clan (unless you're clan is already your circle of friends IRL).

Not sure whats going on in europe... although down here in USA the only league really operational is OGL... and by reputation.. most clans have not taken part in it because they believe its some whats noobish *me included* although it could be used as good practice.. as for not finding competition... I find tons, my clan scrims about 2-6 times a day with clans such as: panda,biog,red,cx,syn,x/o,te etc.... Many being east coast so you guys may not even lag that bad on their servers. So check them out if you want to find some scrims. As for #er we are west coast, so if you scrim against us its not going to be very Fun 200+ PING YIPEEEEE

Move to Australia! We got clans galore and crap internet!

Is it just my observation, or is the number of clans disproportionate to the level of internet service in the country? US: Excellent Internet, few clans, Europe: Excellent Net, few clans, Australia: $199/month for 3 gigs with cable: Heaps of clans....

Thats why they play for points.

And reputation, so they can 'recruit' the best players if they're ontop

That is the reason I won't ruin my NS experience with league play. League can can really sap all the fun out of a game. Aside from the "win at all costs" attitude, top clans tend to become good ole boys clubs. They start out beating eachother up, some of them stop playing, they reform into an uber leet clan that combines all the best players from the older clans and sit atop the ladder belittling the rest. A huge disparity occurs and the top 2-3 clans become unbeatable and the rest stagnate. I'll stick to organised play on pubs and with the rest of my clan. MMZ does not believe in the "Win at all costs" attitude. We feel we won if we had fun. Many of us have tried the league scene and found it too cut-throat (plus we can't organise, too busy having fun and partying ) and flamey. We have a better time gathering the 25+ (we have over 300) people in our clan that play NS and picking sides.

Aliens Against Tofu believe in the fun side of Natural Selection! Like towers in the Viaduct hive on ns_nothing that reach to the roof and have an onos on top

Not playing people who have the ability to beat you is all part of the 'win at all costs' mentality, similar to using r_draw and silent b-hop and all that ****.

I'd suggest you stick to the pubs much more fun..

Incedently your sig says Defcon.. Defcon was banned right so um.. You're avoiding a ban from the forums by making a new account?
