I'm just getting started in mapping and I'm going to use QuArK as my editor, but I'm running into a slight problem: I can't figure out how to get the actual textures to load into the editor for use, I've installed all the NS support files, and all of the images in the .wad files are all organized into categories and everything, but it can't find ns.wad for some reason, and it's located in the default ns directory.. help?

Do the regular Half-Life textures show up? If they don't show up then you haven't told QuArK where Half-Life is installed:
Edit->Configuration->Games->Half-Life->Game Settings->Directory of Half-Life->[Directory of Half-Life, for example "C:\Games\HalfLife" wo quotes]
Note that in this screen you also have to set the paths to the compile tools. First download end extract ZHLT 2.5.3, then overwrite some of these files with custom build 1.7. Now point QuArK to these files.

If the textures of the original Half-Life do show up, but the NS textures don't, make sure you've added ns.qrk to the addons (Not clear from your post if you already did that. Also add ns_context to the addons.). If you added ns.qrk to the addon list and in the texture browser you see the sorted list of Natural Selection textures but no images, while you do see them for regular Half-Life textures, I don't know what could be the problem. Post again with detailed information on what you downloaded, how you setup QuArK and what the exact problems are.

    Yay another QuArK mapper !!

    Just to say i'm using QuArK too, with the ns.qrk and ns_context.qrk plugins and have no problem. Your path to Half-Life main directory is probably wrong.

    The normal HL textures do show up. I installed the ZHLT base and custom (and I had the thing that reduces the maxplanes thing too). I've setup the editor to recognize where the HL directory is, and I've told it what programs to use for the various parts of making the map, but it still won't recognize that the textures are there, it says it's unable to locate ns.wad, and I'm sitting here staring at it in my base NS directory.. I have ns.qrk, ns_context.qrk, ns_tex.qrk, and DataHL.qrk installed.

    I found out what the problem was: I had the wrong version of ns.qrk installed, I was using the earlier version, heh. Now hopefully I can get to making maps and then having problems compiling them (the biggest hurdle :\)
