alpha centauri is a great strategic economy game, its really great, especially by the voice acting that comes with each building and each research and projects
"Achademissian Provost Zakharov, for I have tasted the fruit"
And the most useful quote evar from ACentauri; Remember, genes are not blueprints. For example, you can't take the gene of an elephants trunk and insert into a giraffe, and get a giraff with a trunk. There are no genes for trunks. What you can do with genes, is chemistry.
That was one of the very few things I have learned from a game that is related to Real Life.

I'm sorry, I have to agree with Doom on Black&White, it was simply bullcrap. It wasn't fun to play, and it didn't run that well. I'd base my dislike on it more on the fact that it got repetitive and painful to play very quickly.

and find my post about BF1942 I dont feel like repeating myself
Alice was a good game, but it came out 2 years ago, and alot since then has changed.
EA takes good games, and releases followups that are completley undeveloped (NFS HP2) being the primary example. They rely on the fact that those popular games have a large fan base, and their initial investment into those games will be return with profit on the initial sales. They dont care about supporting the games they release, nor do they care about making them good. Look at 007: Nightfire, it took the bond geonra (spllng) and tuerned it into 'XXX' the movie, no stealth, completely liniar gameplay. NHL2003k was total crap for PC, they took out the "NHL Cards" feature which was the higlight of NHL2002 and somehow managed to make the game feel less real. They also made it "Pay for Play" if you wanted to go on-line, and took out the "PC to PC" feature.
EA is all about the bottom $$ and if you are a true gamer (I considder myself a true gamer) you have a higher standard than the general public, if I cant uphold this standard, or at least point out that its being violated, I dont feel right about being a gamer.
And just to adress the comments about Earth and Beyond. Once you get your charachter to levl 106 (one hundred and six) the game becomes boring and uneventful, and EA has no plans to improve the content for the higher level people... WHY? because the statistical average of player level is 40-85, so their target audiance are the mediocer players, not true gamers
I did some number crunching regarding the auto resource gatherers in CNC: Generals, so you CNC rats might like this.

CODE

GLA: 20/s Cost: 1500 Gives Upgrades, no power req USA: 1500/120s (12.5/s) Cost: 2500 Power Req: 4 China: 5/6/8/10 / s Cost: 675 no power req, can be promoted to earn more money, can disable buildings
The GLA have a auto resource gatherer that costs 1500, requires no power, gives upgrades, and gives 20 supply/second (Black Market). The USA have one that requires 2500, requires 4 power, and gives 12.5/second (Suppy Dropzone). China has one that requires 675, can hack into buildings, and gives 5, 6, 8, or 10 supply/second depending on its level of veterancy (Hacker). Thus, crunching some numbers, using the USA as a base, we can figure this out.
2500 (cost of USA)/ 1500 (cost of GLA) = 1.667 (Black Markets per Supply Dropzone) 20/sec (GLA gain) * 1.666 (Black Markets per USA Supply Dropzone) = 33.3/sec
2500 (cost of USA) / 675 (cost of China) = 3.709 (Hackers per Supply Dropzone) 5/sec (China gain)* 3.709 (Hackers per USA Supply Dropzone) = 18.5/sec, 22.3/sec, 29.7/sec, 37.1/sec [depending on level of veterancy...]
Assuming everyone invests in auto gatherers equally, the GLA will have the highest (33.3/sec per 2500), with the second being the China (18.5/sec per 2500) and finally, USA (12.5/sec per 2500). However, somethings to note: Chinese hackers can be promoted and will ramp up as follows: 22.3/sec per 2500, 29.7/sec per 2500, 37.1/sec per 2500, meaning that the Chinese Hackers will become the most effecient at Third Promotion. Also, the GLA and Chinese do not require power for their auto gain, while USA requires 4. Finally, the GLA Black Market supplies important upgrades, and the Chinese Hacker can hack into buildings.

I just bought C&C Generals today (Seemed too good to pass by, and it was payday) I find it very fun but I have 2 problems that are wierd.
Problem #1: Whenever I finish a mission the mission score board comes up and tells me my statistics, but the problem is; I can't go to the next mission, I only get Save Replay, Play Again?, and Exit. Is there a way to continue from there? I tried clicking Exit and then clicking the Campagin again but I have to redo the same mission. And yes, it does say I am victorious. Anyway to fix this?
Problem#2:Whenever I play a Skirmish map I can play for about 2 minutes before my buildings and units blow up and die, causing me to be defeated. I don't know how to fix this but I want to know how too fix this, if it is a problem.
P.S. Please, don't call me a, "n00b" I checked the options and FAQ before posting this post.
Thank you in advance if you can help me.
Edit: Another more serious problem: Whenever I start up C&C Generals I get this sign that says, "Technical Difficulties; Sorry, but a serious problem has occured." I don't know what the problem is but please can someone help?

EA is all about the bottom $$ and if you are a true gamer (I considder myself a true gamer) you have a higher standard than the general public, if I cant uphold this standard, or at least point out that its being violated, I dont feel right about being a gamer.
And just to adress the comments about Earth and Beyond. Once you get your charachter to levl 106 (one hundred and six) the game becomes boring and uneventful, and EA has no plans to improve the content for the higher level people... WHY? because the statistical average of player level is 40-85, so their target audiance are the mediocer players, not true gamers

GLA: 20/s Cost: 1500 Gives Upgrades, no power req
USA: 1500/120s (12.5/s) Cost: 2500 Power Req: 4
China: 5/6/8/10 / s Cost: 675 no power req, can be promoted to earn more money, can disable buildings
2500 (cost of USA)/ 1500 (cost of GLA) = 1.667 (Black Markets per Supply Dropzone)
20/sec (GLA gain) * 1.666 (Black Markets per USA Supply Dropzone) = 33.3/sec
2500 (cost of USA) / 675 (cost of China) = 3.709 (Hackers per Supply Dropzone)
5/sec (China gain)* 3.709 (Hackers per USA Supply Dropzone) = 18.5/sec, 22.3/sec, 29.7/sec, 37.1/sec [depending on level of veterancy...]

Yeah, the math is pretty sloppy, but it gets the job done. Hope this helps all you tacticians out there.
Help please.
Sounds like you are not being entirely truthful about the buying part. Those sound very much like features meant to prevent pirating the game.

GLA workers have the funniest lines in a RTS since the Ogres in Warcraft 2.
"That's a lot of supplies.", "This hammer is heavy.", "Are there not better tools?" and of course the one you quoted already.
Think about it...

If they weren't, it would be too easy to run over everything(except buildings) in your path.
Dont underestimate the bunker mode on the overlord, 5 Tank Hunters makes quite a difference!
Is there any way to turn up the game speed? it's freakin slow. It's not a framerate issue, it's just that the game ... runs ... so ... mind ... thrashingly ... slow!
Waiting 5 seconds for a tank shell to fly through the air... sucks.
