<div class="IPBDescription">is there a way to silence them?</div> I think its bast. At each potential hive site, there are some incredibly annoying/maximum volume gurgling sounds or something. It is rediculous. I can't hear voice comm or any other game sounds over it. Is there a way to make them stop? ie: removing files, replacing files with blanks, something else.. etc.? (stopsound doesn't work)
Thanks!
Thanks!

I have the same problem though, for a quick and easy fix bind a key to "stopsound"

I disagree.
My game works fine. I have no technical issues. I am asking if anyone knows of a "tweak" or a "fix" or whatever you'd like to call it.
stopsound does not work. Read my post.
It's in powersilo hive on ns_nothing. The easiest fix for it is turning off the in-game music. I can't remember if there's an option in the menus to do that, but there's a very obvious line you can change in your config.cfg to turn it off. Or you can just replace the sound with a null file, or if you're feeling technical a quieter version of the same sound.

edit: To turn off the music, change:
cl_musicenabled "1.0"
to
cl_musicenabled "0.0"
in your config.cfg
I should go in and just reduce the volume on the wave file itself.
I'm pretty sure that actually is a random occurance of steam exploding from the walls. I like it quite a bit; being all tense and then having your pants scared off by some silly steam vent is quite fun.
Note: you can see this happen in the bast readyroom as well.
