It's not as easy as it sounds, its VERY unstable, you'll need a fair bit of ram, over a gig of free HD space, a pretty good processor and a lot of time.
The dem be rerun in a timedemo and then output to a large file. This file will then be split into about 5-15 1 meg bmp's PER SECOND, then you'll need a AVI compiler which takes a little time to setup and compile. You wont get sound unless you record the sound direct then overlay later. Its tricky to sync too.

Someone was making a map for NS (called ns_jungle I think) that had this one GORGEOUS (though too cheery) area that was shown off with HyperCam. The video was silky smooth.
I made some really cool changes to the ns_shadow dropship bay (it's most likely completely finished now) and I need to post a video of it for people to understand it properly.
TEHFIRSTEDIT: Er, tried Hypercam. To be honest, it's the buggiest/crappiest program I have ever seen. EVERY time I try to record it says either "you're framerate is too high!" or "you can't do that, etc!". I set my framerate to FIFTEEN FRAMES PER SECOND and it gave me that. bah... I'll have to use that idea Rhoads gave me
TEHSECONDEDIT: I tried that method, but it keeps saying "startmovie only allowed during demo playback". How do I open .dem files?
type in console "playdemo nameofdemo" (no quotes ) and the demo file should be in your main ns fodlr i believe, or head over to geekboys.org and download geekplay, it should work with all HL mods
