How Do I Hit Targets Successfully?

I've read some older threads and it seems to me that the LMG is a potentially powerful weapon. Unfortunately, I have really bad aim to begin with and when I see a skulk rush me, I can't help but spray lead everywhere and jump in place. I'd really appreciate learning how to aim a great deal better so that I can at least get to an assigned waypoint without getting killed by rampaging skulks.

Well, I'm an alien player, but I can still give a few tips.

1. STAY CALM.
I can not emphasize this enough. Panic and you will die. stay calm and keep your hand steady and you can draw a bead on your target better.

2. DON'T SPRAY AND PRAY.
Not only does this waste bullets, it also enduces panic, and you will run out of bullets at an inopportune time. fire when you actually think you are going to hit.

3. KEEP AN OPEN EAR AND EYE.
If you know where they're coming from before they get to you, your chances of hitting increase much more than if they drop onto your back from the cieling.

Also, i tend to find that crouching helps, since the vertical axis tends to not matter as much then. Also, practice switching to pistol when you run out of LMG ammo. Hope this helps.

4. Stop firing every couple of seconds, to readjust your aim. This will help a LOT

5. Hang around with friends. Groups of marines means you won't get personal kills as often, but vastly increases the chance that

A) Skulks won't try to attack you at all on their own

B) Those that do are more likely to be spotted

C) You won't get eaten, so you get more chance to shoot the skulk.

6. Don't bother trying to shoot experienced Lerks at first. They'll just laugh at you. Run away if you're alone. Go for newb Lerks, Average Skulks & Gorges.

Also, turn the tables by ambushing THEM. There's nothing they'd expect less than to run into a room after your buddy to get gunned down by you, crouching in the corner by the door

This is what I love about early game marines. Skulks don't have any carapace and they're so easy to shoot. Usually they can be heard from far enough away to allow you to change your position and prepare for them. Even without motion tracking you can be ready for them and shoot them when they pop their head out of a vent or anything. If you're good, they might mutter something about damn motion tracking, though it's not researched yet

HWGuy in a can, know that the skulk's hitbox is not exactly his whole body. it's about the behind half and also slightly vertically above his behind half as well. Aim for that area.

Burst-fire if you can't keep track of them when shooting.

If you're guarding a room, give yourself enough space from any entrances so you have more distance before they can get in bite range.

When travelling, give yourself more space by going around the outside of curves instead of the inside.

Move in a group and make sure not to stay too close or a lot of bullets will hit your friends. It would be wise for you to duck, as it'll be easier for you to shoot them, and your teammates will be able to shoot over your head.
