Manual Problems
Okay sorry if this is a stupid question
I have noticed that in the tech tree right after motion traking there is a distress beacon thing. This is what the manual says:
Distress Beacon
The observatory punches through the nano-gridlock, sending an emergency signal to the neighboring dropship. The dropship immediately sends reinforcements, homing in on the signal's location, and spending large amounts of energy to create temporary "subject fields" out of the construction nanos in the ceiling-based command network. The squad immediately returns to full deployment. The reinforcements get there every time, but it is incredibly stressful and dangerous for the dropship's engines (not to mention the dropship's commander). See phase technology for more information on phase travel.

Okay so I was a good little boy, I read the manual first. Now could anyone please tell me what the hell it actually does, without the cute storyline added in? LOL I don't care how the imaginary nano technology works, or about dropships that don't exist,I don't want an explanation. I just want to know what it actually does and why it would be important to me in a game.
Same thing goes for blink. The manual nevers tells you HOW to use it. Gee, thanks guys! Has anyone else had this frustration with the manual? I know how difficult it is to write those things, hell just wrting a "readme" for a simple mod install can take quite awhile, but the manual does leave a LOT of unanswered questions.
I have been searching the forums for a straightforward explanation of the game but haven't found it yet. Can anyone guide me in the right direction?

For blink:
Select blink, duck, jump, aim where you want to be, and fire.
There can be no obstacles between the spot you're targetting and you.
Don't blink into structures (OCs, DCs, etc) because you will get stuck [BUG].
this is why if you stand on the ground and look down AT ALL you feet instantly hit the floor and you stop
and distress beacon summons every one to your FIRST BASE
so, if you have relocated, it don't do squat for you
