Help Me! Cant Play Ns!

ok here is the thing...

i find HL scratched to pieces one day...oh crap i say to myself..but then i realise that once ive installed the game it doesnt really matter...

i attempt to connect to a NS server...comes up with that cannot connect Wonid nonsense...repeat until insane.

i attempt to reinstall HL...cannot find INSTALL.log

I post numerous help posts regarding this problem.

i find out today that there are WONID connectivity issues.

i download the alleged "fix"

does bugger all to help.

in a fit of rage i delete all HL folders and files and remove its existence from my registry.

now im wondering if maybe i can still play NS?

i have HL Generations 3, so i have:

HL game of the year edition
Opposing force
Counter Strike Retail
Blue Shift

can i play NS with Blue Shift or Counter Strike alone??
i dont think i can....

I think my only option is to spend another 20 quid on another copy of the game thanks to VALVES mistake.....
can anyone telll me if this is the case?

    You can play with counter strike RETAIL, but not with blue shift.

    as for CS retail, it acts just like HL, just crappy

    you have to DL the updates for CSretail, instead of HL patches, and there are a few bug with it ingeneral, basicly treat it like HL that always opens up with CS as the active mod. Exept that instead of c:\games\sierra\HL you havs \CS and your exe is cs not HL

    happily place the cd with the full 1.005 (or whatever) CS patch..and...GUESS WHAT...

    this is so freaking frustrating! im sick of this ****..

    im just going to spend another £20 on another copy of the game because this is freaking ridiculous..
    im so **** off with valve and their stupid WONID ****. Its a crap system and it doesnt stop cheaters....only honest people who have bought the game and play fair apparently...so thats another £20 in VALVE's pocket, just so i can play a superior game...NS.

    Another thing to do is to send em an email, tell them that your CD is scrathed/broken/what ever is wrong. Ask them if there is ny way to get another copy of the game.

    Valve are totally ignorant now days...there would be a time where if u mailed them with a question, the manager would reply..now youll be lucky to get a reply at all....

    if you havent caught on..i tried but they obviously couldnt be bothered to reply to a paying customer.

    when did you try, what email did you send it to and what did you say?

    There is no chance in hell theya re going to ignore an email, it just would be stupid. MAinly if you emailed the proper person (ie tech suport) it is probably jsut going to take some time
