well here in U.S. if your parents are unable to take care of you the state intervienes (i.e. your parents go to jail). The kids arent orphans so they don't put them up for adoption to a loving family or put them in an orphanage. They basically pay people to act as thier parents and family. This is the foster family. Its really flawed i think and the kids get abused alot because these people are being paid and arent really doing it out of love.
I think it should be done away with. Orphanages would be better and statistically people in orphanges do alot better in school then normal people.
Well, while this is surely a topic worth discussing (and I agree, paying people to raise children is a bad idea), I can't see how it should've been included in a movie about gun ownership and its implications in American society.
[edit]Nope. Over here, they become 'regular' orphans.[/edit]
I must of forgot to mention that one or more of the kids was a foster care child. Thats why i think its worth mentioning because i think i rember hearing that he was abused by some of his foster parents.
Well, nope, that's not mentioned, mainly because, as i said, the Columbine shooting is only used as a starting point. Moore doersn't so much elaborate on it than the reactions it provoced.
Well there was that bit on the mother who had to do some crazy commute every day to her government appointed job. Didn't her son shoot someone? Does this have anything to do with foster care (mother couldn't care for son, government "helped out")?
