Before i say anything you might notice that im new to the forums but im far from being new to NS so dont just dismiss what i have to say. Ok so anyway my class, i fall into a bunch of different categories. At times ill just decide to do a bit of gaurd duty, an effective patrolman as i call them isnt just an ammo station humper, he makes himseld useful, if anything needs to be built in base he's on top of it, mines running low in base, he resets them. also I follow orders, sure, sometimes the comm will slack off and totally forget that he's supposed to give out orders so ill also play the thinker role. lastly i think there's one that nobody mentioned though it is rather similar to a ninja, its kinda my own thing and i call it the solid snake class, this type of player will go in with nothing but his basic weapon set and use nothing but his brains and stealth to handle his buisness. for example, one time we were completely screwed main base was damn near gone and we were relocationg everyting to engine room and just as that was being done we were under heavy attack in our new base by fades, skulks, and lerks. a gorge had created a wall of offense chambers and defense chambers so if by some miricale you managed to get passed the full scale alien assault alive the offense would finish you off. but me being as versitale (sorry for the spelling) as i am i managed to make my way to the vents stealthily kill a skulk, and sneak passed about 3 or 4 fades of course being so stealthy that the comm didnt even know i made it out, it ended up doing me no good (no matter what approach you take you need SOME type of support from you comm) me standing there with my pants down having realized that all of my sneaking and acrobatics really did me no good i just ended up shooting a few fades in the back of the head and went down. but just imagine if my comm knew how to use my stealth abilities to our teams advantage we coulda made a come back.
A couple that I think would kinda reflect how I play. Some not as much as others. Note that I'm not necessarily calling myself the best of any of these (although I tend to play field commander/Fanatic the most. Quite effectively)
<b>Commander Enforcer/Right hand man</b> Could also be called a field commander. Keeps comm informed, rallies troops, and makes sure everyone follows orders. Respects new commanders, no matter how dumb they may be. Realizes that people make mistakes. Will play the entire game without asking for anything special, if he does, he doesn't demand it, he will simply ask the commander if he feels it is needed.
He will also inform the commander if a strategy is a lost cause and why.
<b>TSA Fanatic</b> Fearless. Completely and utterly fearless. This is one man who truly believes the saying "Marines don't die! They go to hell and regroup!" Will charge 3 fades with an LMG and pistol, and doesn't stop attacking. Ever. Can be good, can be bad. The good fanatic won't stock up on ammo or grab special weapons, his mission is to die...and take as many of those kharaa sum-**** with him. Also realizes that marines are worthless in terms of credits.
The fanatic will put himself at great personal danger for the benefit of marines. If parasited, he will voluntarily stay far away from other marines...often ending on a positive note with his trademark kamikaze LMG charge. They also have no problem playing "baitman" and work well with fishermen.
<b>Gorge Hunter</b> LOVES killing gorges. That's all he does. He'll avoid skulks, knowing that killing the gorge is what kills the Kharaa. Often times are really nasty with a shotgun. And scare gorges shitless if they get a jetpack. He has thousands of pounds of grade A gorge meat packed in his freezer, and guides his own gorge hunts for willing civilian customers. He knows when and where a gorge will build, what it will build, and why, depending on what the marines are doing, and will sit there and wait for him. They work great in packs, if you are fortunate enough to find multiple gorge hunters on one game.
<b>The booby trapper</b> Mine expert. Knows where to place the mines, to ensure skulks will not see them until it's too late. Will willingly give up his pistol to go around and mine every single point of interest that he has a mine for. A good booby trapper can get more kills than a marine blazing away with a heavy machine gun. Give him a jetpack, and he can ensure nothing alien will get into the vents. Ever.

Plays NS on a laptop, gets around 30fps staring at a wall (around 10fps in a firefight), and pings in the mid 100s/low 200s. Always tells the commander not to give him anything special, because he knows he's going to die within five seconds of getting it. Rarely humps the armory for more than two clips. If forced to abandon his LMG, he prefers a shotgun due to it's spread, potential damage, and low cost. Does all he can to save the team money. Generally a good player, weened on teamplay-enforced TFC servers, just limited by his hardware and connection. Sometimes mistaken for an engineer, phase-hopper, defender, or fanatic.

This guy may have been a god at CS, but plays worse than a drunk noob on NS. Basically he thinks NS is CS, that marines are counter-terrorists and aliens are terrorists. Once he spawns, he runs around knifing his team mates, jumping around in circles and knifing the air.
CS guy doesn't get many kills because he usually expects his opponents to die from 1 or 2 shots, then when they are still not dead, he shouts 'OMG haxor! I shot you in the head like enuff times'.
The most annoying aspect about CS guy is that he uses CS phrases on voice comm like, 'Roger that', 'Affirmative', 'Negative', 'Enemy spotted', 'Get out of here, she's gonna blow', etc..
You'll often find CS guy trying to disarm the Kharaa Hive with his 'use' key.

Much like the Right Hand Man mentioned above. He is a well rounded player able to do most things to the best of his ability alone. But when he has a squad to command, the squad becomes the Karaa's worst nightmare. Knows every detail about his squad down to has the last wielder. Always accepts orders for the Commander unless they put his squad in danger. He will even die to save his squad or other marines. Usually an inspiration to newbe marines trying to get a grasp of the game.

Goes on servers usually late night and complains about his personal problems to people who don't give a ****. Absolutely worthless aim, all he does other than complain is follow people.
I am SO the TSA Fanatic. I spawn, run past the armory, run outside and charge the fades. Then get about 3 acid rockets in my face and a swipe at my head. I spawn again and repeat. I sometimes find myself actually screaming in real life as I charge a fade. haha. Then I realize i'm outmatched and die promptly after.
*sigh*
Anyway, these are all great, I almost fell off my chair laughing.

Burst fire is useless on ns. You think u might be saving ammo but if u see a skulk in plain sight theres no point of burst fire. Also if a skulk is running and jumping at u and he has lvl 3 carapice and u have lvl 0 guns. I ensure that my hair is on them firing at all times. This is essential becuase this is the 'axis' that ensures you are in an 'equilibrium' with the skulks dance of death. If you keep your hair on it constantly you will be able to dance around the skulk forever. I have danced around a skulk for enought time to empty my lmg, reload, empty, reload, empty.....I took out 2 skulks at once...The main thing to remember which catches most amatuer rambos out is that if they rapidly 'CHANGE DIRECTION' and start spinning around in the opposite direction you must do a full 180 and do the same. Hmm, I burst fire but I don't do it for accuracy or anything like that. I burst fire so I can find that damn skulk again after I just lost him in my LMG muzzle flash.
To tell you the truth, in my first few days, when I started to burst fire, my kills went up dramatically. I personally think a tool-tip about burst firing should be put into the Tooltips.
burst fire with an lmg or hmg does NOT increase your accuracy. It is however usefull because instead of emptying your clip at a wall in the hope some fade will pop his head out again to have a look you will conserv your ammo for when you do see skulkmeat in front of you - meaning far less time vulnerable as you reload.
the pistol is extremly accurate even when your clicking as fast as its humanly possible it has an impact area x * x
the lmg is half as accurate as the pistol ie impact area 2x * 2x
the hmg is half as accurate as the lmg ie impact area 4x * 4x
ok 2 things. PISTOLS FAR. LMG CLOSE. When you are about to enter a enclosed area where u could be easily ambushed take your lmg out and begin jumping forward while looking up for any hanging skulks and looking back at times. When you are looking down a long corridor where u can see everything coming take your pistol out. As soon as you empty your pistol you probably would have killed 1-2 skulks take out the lmg becuase the rest of the skulks would probably would not be too far behind.

While there's nothing wrong with the spread of knowledge, he always seems to die when typing out things like "STOP HUMPING THE ARMURY" or dies because he was watching the rear and presumed his squad were using the latest staggering advancement he just tought them, when in reality the rest of his team ran off and he now has his back to 4 fades <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

heres the best shooting style:
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->When I shoot at a skulk 90% of the time my hair is right on to them - locked on. I do this by chargeing towards them and sidesteping at the last possible moment. They then spin to my side. I begin to circle strafe around them in the same direction as they are circling around me. You must do this FAST because you are running towards it...Using this tactic is so accurate I often empty a pistol clip into a skulk and kill it at close range...<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I must do something... anything for the team! The comm tells me to guard i guard with my life. Theres a fade/onos? Where? I gotta kill it with my LMG and pistol! <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> Suicide mission behind enemy lines? My philospy (thats spelt wrong i know) is:
"My life (in game) is worthless, I die for the team!"
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->"Marines don't die! They go to hell and regroup!" <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Burst fire sucks, if you want to hit anything at long distance you're better off doing it with your pistol.
<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
But we're getting off topic.
the pistol is extremly accurate even when your clicking as fast as its humanly possible it has an impact area x * x
the lmg is half as accurate as the pistol ie impact area 2x * 2x
the hmg is half as accurate as the lmg ie impact area 4x * 4x
PISTOLS FAR.
LMG CLOSE.
When you are about to enter a enclosed area where u could be easily ambushed take your lmg out and begin jumping forward while looking up for any hanging skulks and looking back at times.
When you are looking down a long corridor where u can see everything coming take your pistol out.
As soon as you empty your pistol you probably would have killed 1-2 skulks
take out the lmg becuase the rest of the skulks would probably would not be too far behind.
