Sweet, thanks. Now, if only FedEx hadn't decided to send my new motherboard from Chicago, to Columbus, and back to Chicago before they actually sent it to me...
I run 2k Pro, no problems here whatsoever. It runs all games just fine period. It's so mainstream now that you can get 2k drivers for just about anything, especially video cards. The only time you run into problems with 2k and gaming now is when you want to play an OOOOLD game in DOS (which a little program called VDMSound fixes, by the way. Google for it if you have any reason to ) And I agree, 2k is the best Windows OS out there, because XP is 2k plus a bunch of extra stuff that only slows it down and that I would never use.
Win2kPro(sp3) has no problems running HL or any of the mods, in fact I think they run even better, considdering you can up their priority. and the gefroce4 drivers are super solid for win2k
If youre running win2k advanced server you might have problems (if you got IIS enabled for certain web services, I think if you run it as a DC, you run into problems with direct X)
I've been running win2kpro since before SP1, I also run advanced serv on my other sys, I have no problems playing HL on both, but my friend runs win2k advanced serv at home with IIS and DC enabled and he cant paly any of the newer games
Win2k/SP3 - no problems of any kind in well over 9 months of heavy use (12+ hrs a day).
Drivers are very easy to find, and SP3 has a very handy update program which helps keep everything up-to-date.
I haven't even seen a BSOD on this computer in well over a year.
Actually I've been running win 2k pro for a while now. Since I constantly get "pirated" software I alwas to clean installs. One time when I was still a CS ****, I started playing (tnt 32mb at the time) and then I would freeze, the CS application would just freeze. I just reinstalled windows and all my stuff and had no problems since.

Win2k right now is the best windows OS, yes better than XP in my opinion.
XP stands for "Xtra Problems"
