going slightly off-topic to reply to Paq here, but i have one of those mice (except, as u say with one button on each side, rather than 2 on the left), and mine works fine, i can bind every button on it without problems. If its USB, try just plugging it in without installing any drivers and (assuming of course your friend is using XP) Windows should just instantly recognise it, and viola, you should be able to bind all 5 buttons even in CS.

Suprised more of you don't use the alt and space for strafing (with mouse buttons for forward/back) and shoot with ctrl..
Some clannies that played FLF used it, and I tried it out once. Its pretty good, but it hurts your brain for awhile if you've been using WASD. Interestingly enough, I used to use ctrl as shoot (IMO your reaction is slightly faster than clicking.) and then switched to standard WASD. Currently trying to transition back to holding my hand lower on the keyboard.

I actually started this thread to see what I should bind to mouse 4, I thought just about everyone used wasd, or atleast used the keyboard for movement. Man was I wrong when I thought that the arrow keys were extinct.
How do people start using mouse 1 and 2 for forward and back? And also the person who used s and x for strafing, that sounds so stupid to my ears, I like having my movement keys next to each other. And inverted mouse also sounds wierd, oh well. My first time I played hl I used the arrow keys, untill my brother showed my the wasd, at first it looked like the stupidest thing in the world, but I use it now...
The good thing about ns is that wasd works, because thers are barly any buttons, like when compared to tribes 2.
Keep posting, I really want to know if so many people are useing the arrow keys, or are just the people with "odd" configs posting...
While we're at it, one thing I learned from TFC binding\scripting is that it's a really bad idea to put your melee weapon on an alias so that it attacks while you hold the button down, and stops and pulls out the last gun when you release. It's much better to move your melee weapon switch closer. This is because it takes less co-ordination than just one button attack, and because it's WAY more reliable. You don't want your knife to stuff up at a critical moment.
Although, this is far more important for a TFC spy than a marine. Meh.

I almost forget to mention that, lol, I too invert the mouselook (down to look up, and up to look down...like an airplane). I just learned like that, so I can't use anything else <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'd like to ask you (and everyone else who does it), why do you invert the mouselook? I'll tell you why I do it in a moment, but I'd like to hear other people's reasons. I mean, it does seem odd when I think about it, to make down up and up down. It's it counter-intuitive or something?
As for me, I started inverting mouselook because of Tie Fighter. I played tons and tons of Tie Fighter (and it's addons) way back in 1996, and it defaulted to inverted controls. I didn't have a joystick back then, so I used the mouse control option. Needless to say I've never been the same since. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I have a Wall-walk toggle that I use for Skulking which is bound to Z
I have two seperate scripts with Radio bindings and Evolutions for Aliens and Marines. The script bind's each team's taunt to Mouse3 for handy chuckle-spam or alien taunting action.

Why? I dunno, really...I started FPS back on Duke Nukem 3D, and the inverted mouse was just easier for me to control, felt more natural to me. I tried non-inverted, and I just can't get used to it.
shift: jump
enter: walk toggle
ctrl: crouch
mouse1: fire
mouse2: slot1 (I spent far too long playing TFC as a spy, needing my knife as close as possible)
mouse3: +voicerecord
': reload
DEL: chuckle
INS: flashlight
HOME: Flayra's wonderous menu (which I hardly use any more since the BFCAS)
mousewheel: BFCAS
backspace: use
[: slot2
]: slot3
\: slot4
I also use inverted mouse. It just makes SENSE. I guess maybe it is a remant from flight sims (the first game I ever played was an ancient flightsim called LHX attack helicopter). It just makes more sense to me that you push forward to "nose down" and pull back to "pull up", as if your mouse is on the head of a joystick.
Right Arrow: Strafe Right
Up Arrow: Move Foward
Down Arrow: Move Backward
Shift: Walk
Ctrl: Crouch
Spacebar/Mouse3: Jump
R: Reload
F: Flashlight
\: Spray Logo
0 On Numpad: VoiceComm
1 On Numpad: Weapon 1
2 On Numpad: Weapon 2
3 On Numpad: Weapon 3
4 On Numpad: Weapon 4
End: Drop Weapon
Mouse1: Primary Fire
Mouse2: Menu
Mouse3: Jump
Enter: Message To All
T: Message to Teammates
Some clannies that played FLF used it, and I tried it out once. Its pretty good, but it hurts your brain for awhile if you've been using WASD. Interestingly enough, I used to use ctrl as shoot (IMO your reaction is slightly faster than clicking.) and then switched to standard WASD. Currently trying to transition back to holding my hand lower on the keyboard.
space/alt:strafe
mouse1: jump
mouse3: forward
mouse2:popup (bad idea actually)
ctrl:attack
asdzxc are all available. Don't feel like typing them out.
I've found that this configuration kinda makes you want to move more. *shrug*
Well that may cause some problems, because he doesn't have XP <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Man, those settings look retarded, do you suffer from 'spazz' fingers?
Although, this is far more important for a TFC spy than a marine. Meh.
