Recording Demos

After playing a game as a Marine I was incredibly impressed by the commander's ability. I contacted him via AIM and wanted to get some demo's of him playing so I/others could learn from him. I wasn't entirely sure about the whole 'demo thing' so I checked it all out and it turns out that when I record demos it drops just about everything on the screen. To be frank, recording demos is now useless.
Does anyone know a way I can get a demo recorded WITH the interface without resorting to using something like Fraps to grab a bajillion frames? Also, what about voice chat? If that could be recorded also the game then then demo would be complete.
Right now it seems like fraps + 50gb hd space + audio recording program is about my best bet =(
Please, can anyone shed some light?

I have never had this problem.
the command is "record playername"
to stop "stop demo"
I use this all the time in games like dod to stop cheats or in games like Firearms to see how people use a certain weapon and I can honestly say I have never had that problem. It does make you lag os if you're gonna go it mak sure your spectating.
Oh well.
Bring down your console ingame and type :
Record Demoname
and to play you can either use a program called "geekplay" or type in console:
Play Demoname
