Always Blame The Comm?

why
Ok, I admit I am not the greatest comm however i have been commanding for over a month and a half now and I don't think I am that bad. What annoys me is when you have a decent or good commander and the marines lose sometimes everyone blames the comm. Ive seen people be like "We lost our comm is a newbie" or "freaking commander sucks dont ever be comm again newbie". It is not always the commanders fault. Sometimes the marines just have to many newbies on their team or the aliens are just to good. I am just sick of everytime marines loose everyone **** at the comm when sometimes it isn't their fault.

I feel for ya. A great comm with marines who can't aim can't do much.

Yeah I sometimes «have» to go comm because no one gets in the chair. I'm a pretty decent comm but I need the marines' support too ! But at least with a name like mine I rarely get called a n00b, since my name says so It's pretty hard to comm well in pubs without the support of your fellow marines. I suggest you get HLamp and listen to Rammstein while comm'ing, it helps me a lot ( ajdust the volume of course ).

It's always the commander's fault, you should know that - there is no accountability on the part of the grunts.

    Politics suck.

I commanded today, and all my "grunts" couldn't set foot outside base without getting chomped. I don't believe any of them made it to their destinations. I just laughed my arse off.

I had a game like this - and many of the players were not newbies but the skulks just kept comming. If we killed 5 then 5 more apeared without even time for us to reload. It as like the respawn time of the aliens was down to 2 seconds... oddly the previous 3 games we pwned the skulks and the teams didn't change much that I noticed.
    /me suspects admin interferance.

    I hope not.

Anyway, back to the topic. I always blame the comm whenever we win and apologies to him if we loose. Unless his incompetance caused us to loose - like placing 3 CC and a turret farm in base whilst the aliens collected all the res and hives.

even if I'm given bad marines, if I can't compensate, I'm a bad comm. It's that simple.

And that's happened before, the marines followed my orders to the T, only they couldn't shoot worth... anything. We lost. *shrug*

meh dont forget that commanders can have an infalted opinion of what their troops are capable of :/
if the team isnt so good or if the aliens are damn fine then as a last resort after failing to get TO a res nozzle or hive ill just dish out half shotguns and lmgs then send them off on as kamikaze relocation. It never works but it looks good lol

If I see an obs/2ip/tfac I just rambo the entire game.

Blame has to be shared in some cases.

A commander is only as good as the marines serving under him.

Many times I've commanded, often because nobody else would, and immediately set down a goal for my team. Get to Cargo. Get to Noname. Go here, do this. That's usually when my team falls apart... someone goes rambo, or others don't cover their teammates and everyone becomes skulk bait, etc, etc. Rambos get scattered across the map, other players are dead, and the base becomes dinner to skulks. GG.

And an attitude like "If I see a TF in base, I'm ramboing" does NOT help. A TF and turrets in base may not be YOUR build-order, or the generally accepted build-order, but that doesn't mean your team is destined to fail. Failure WILL happen with rambo'ing crap. This is no different than aliens proclaiming defeat when a sensory chamber goes up first... get a life.

Actually unless the aliens suck TF in base will hurt the marines chances.

    20 + 19 + 19 + 19 = 77res better spent on a armslab/upgrades/res towers.

5 mines = 8 res usually you need just about 2 packs to cover the entrances.

Personally, I never blame anyone. I just play for laughs. I'm average marine and I comm when we're on a LAN and I'm not great. So I'm in no position to blame anyone else.

I must admit I hate it when you get anyone blaming other people. Those kind of people need to look at themselves. Are they sooooooo good that the only reason they failed was because of other people?

And you need to give other people a break. At some point everyone sucks. You just have one of those games. So what? It's no big deal. You can have fun while losing...try it.

    Meh.

Regrettably, that makes you part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Yup mines are good base defences and they are really cheap too and mines also have lots of other benefits too

In many games i see that commander builds two ip's, obs, armory, phase (nothing wrong with that) and then he puts one TF, but doesn't build any sentrys... or then he builds all that, but he places that TF in the middle of the room and puts few sentrys in front of it and thinks that it will stop skulk rushes

I get blamed sometimes when I comm. These are in games when things such as the following happen:

-I plop a phase gate down in a room such as Holo, all five of the marines in the room rush to build the gate and get chomped down by two skulks even though I warn them they are incoming.

-I tell people to phase now and go through firing, immediately! Two people go, one gets a kill and they both the, and the rest are too far away to get to a phase anytime soon, for some reason or other. The two that respawn hump the armory a bit, then phase, dying with all 300 lmg bullets still on them.

-I drop a few welders, which get picked up, and say "TAKE THEM TO BLAHBLAH, IMMEDIATELY!" I never see these people again.

-I tell the team to secure a room and wait there till a bit more res piles up. Half of them wander off through random exits, forcing me to plop a phase down there. See my first incident for what usually happens next.

Oh, the list goes on... pretty soon it's mid-game, we only have one or two res towers left, and our tech is way behind. But is it their fault? Course not! It's my fault for not deploying the magical Resource Tower Fairy. Then the inevidable "give us GLs to fend off base!" comes. I point to our whole 8 resources and sigh, logging out.

But I'm not that bitter... it comes with the job. Just gotta grin and bear it, and don't let it effect you the next time you comm, even if people say "you just comm'ed, you're a newbie".

I agree that a TF in base with turrets is not a good way to start a game, I was simply saying that sometimes that is exactly how a game starts, and it makes no sense to give up and just wildly rambo because of that.

Sometimes a TF in base is necessary if the entire team wanders off and leaves the spawn undefended. Mines will also work.

Agreed, if i see a TF off the start I rambo til we lose.
