<div class="IPBDescription">Gorge + Express Shipping</div> I read this forum fairly frequently, and I've never seen this suggested. So here goes.
The Problem: Your gorge is safe at the hive, relaxing and accumulating resources. The marines have taken the closest hive, and are running around the map pretty much unchecked. How do you get the gorge over to the empty hive safely?
The Solution: Get a few skulks over to the new hive. Wait until your hive gorge has 93 resources. One of the skulks over in the new hive evolves to gorge, and the hive gorge kills himself. 60 resources get dumped into the alien pool. Since everyone should be full on resources, the new gorge gets the 60 rp immediately. With the 20 he had left after evolving, he now has enough rp to put up the new hive.
Total Cost: 13 rp, lost when the hive gorge suicides.

2. This assumes you've cleared out a hive location, and just need to get a hive up as quickly as possible.
3. Your hive defenses/defenders kill them, or you lose your hive. You're always going to be in a tight spot while you try for a second hive. But we all know turtling in one hive is a deathtrap, so you have to risk it.

We usally agree (er, at least I think its you that I have agreed with in a few posts here on the board, although I've not always typed it out), but this time, we dont. Its great that you've never played a game where a gorge cant move across an area while a skulk could. But I KNOW I have played games like that.
Out of a 100? Maybe 5? 10? Probably somewhere in between. Where the marines either have a hive, or, have a ton of turrets or a PG in the middle of the map. We hold a hive on one side of the map, and our skulks just cleared the other hive, on the other side of the map. Marines are crawling back and forth in the middle.
The two solid options to get a gorge across the map at this point are skulk vent boosting (which only works on some maps, Nancy comes to mind) or to have two players swap gorge and skulk.
A more risky option is to send the gorge out with skulk protection, but neither are going to last if they come across HA/JP HMGs. That has most certainly happened to me before... defintely closer to the 10 out of 100 times I've played alien and we've been 1 hive vs. HA/JP HMGs, we have managed to clear and secure and build a 2nd hive up.
