Public Server Going Private.

I don't know how many of you play on my server. But, unfortunately we (the admins and regulars) have decided to make the server private. I am not making any real requirements to get the password except being registered on my forums. This is being done to try to ensure a good game every time. It is my belief that people who read these forums know how to play the game and know how to play as a team. I am waiting until I get 300 people registered on the forums before I lock it and send out a forum wide email with the password. At the moment I am at 233 registered users. If you would like to come by and try out the server for ping, player quality etc please do. If you enjoy the way it is run (there are 9 admins) please register. I want to get a large base of good players who want good games to ensure the server is full all the time.

I estimate at currant growth the server will be locked in about a week or so.


NOTE: Tonight 2/26/03 at 9pm est there is a match admins vs regulars (we do this about one time a month) and the server will be locked for about 2.5 hours so you will be unable to get in.

I use to play there, I dont like private servers though. They go empty pretty quick and you dont get much variety in terms of players that join.

make it public but with 12 res slots out of 16...hmm a very good idea.

just lock up the server now, post the password here now, change it later if you have problems.

We have always been a family (i have run servers since 1998 for people) I want to have a family of people that play ns. I think waiting until 300 is good for the reason it is getting locked. If I were to lock it now. People would not have a chance to play (from here) who have not played on the server. To try it out. I want people to have to do something (even a small thing..register) to get the password. It seperates people who just happen to get the password from people who want a good game and go register to get it.

the "idea" of a private server is good. but like many said, it will go empty alot.

our server always has admins and we are known for kicking noobs for various reasons. we are really fair about it, and you get warned several times for doing noobish things. we will even instruct. but if you are the "my why cause its my game" or the "im not listening to anyone" or the "ill gorge cause sens chambers are so pretty" type, you will most likely get kicked.

thats the problem with pubs...when there are 7 gorges on an aliens team, there is no admin around to straighten it out. and yes, i have witnessed it. i was the only skull! and this was about 2 minutes into the game.

good luck with your private server. hope people sign up and continue to play there. gotta keep the NS servers going.

We're doing almost the same thing on Flatline-Server.com. We wanted a private server, but it's extremely easy to get access by just emailing me saying you want in. i think you did not read far enough or misunderstood. The rules (posted) are simple trash talking in the forums is allowed to an extent. But racism, making fun of a person ethnicity etc will get you banned from the forums and the servers. But trash talking is fine in the forums.
