You <i>could</i> make yourself useful and learn to skinmesh/skin/animate <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
There are plenty of models out there, but not many people are capable of doing every step required to get it in game. There are some, but few and far between. And because of that, you are going to wait for them to complete these models whenever they feel like it, and thats their right. They have a life as well. If you don't like that, do something about it. Instead of waiting on them, learn something and offer your services. If a few people can skinmesh, a few can skin, a few can animate, and a few can model, you can crank those bad boys out. And it's a lot easier than learning all the steps yourself. Right now I have 12+ models just waiting for the next step, and while I'm trying to learn to skinmesh, it may not happen anytime soon (especially since I'm trying to learn max, softimage, and blender at the same time).
im trying to make all the ns models .. look like star craft since star craft is the best strat game!! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I tried to learn to do all those things but the tutorials that are stickied in the model forum are either A) for another game or B) way to confusing. So...yep.
Ok...I want somthing to be added to this thread that isn't COMPLETELY USELESS SPAM! its an insult to the model and the modeler that this thread with his name on it be profaned like this. ... THUS I WILL BE THE FIRST! As it seems that there is a lot of questions about the way that this weapon is reloaded, i offer you my idea. There are two variants, as it is seen by the two variants of the gauss rifles. The first picture is the terran defeat screen, where the weapon is shown on a side view very clearly. My source picture i found to show you ppl however is crappy, but ignore it. check it yourself in the game if you want to make sure.
Since it has a Bizon like cylindrical magazine underneath the barrel, that has to be the magazine. It also has the buttstock of an M-16. See my 5 minutes sketh at the bottom for some clarity. This is the HMG variant as the Bizon magazine gives the weapon high ammo capacity (150 rounds hint hint)
NEXT!
The second picture is the LMG version. Since it has the standard rifle magazine it holds less (50 rounds) and it designed more tactically with the adjustable buttstock a la MP5 and the RIS on the top. Perfect for the LMG, wouldn't you agree?
AND!
Uhh...the last one was like a sketch i just finished to try to show you guys the magazines with the crappiness of the source pictures. NOTE, they are still perfectly accurate if you look at the original unmagnified. Umm...please don't flame me out...just trying to help
FINALLY!
Jamil, i hope your at least reading this...if you really are still working on that rifle, i hope this helps..
So the grenade launcher is shaped as a bananna clip? Kinda small for nades... <!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='siege.gif'><!--endemo-->
yes, i saw that. the strange hippie guy shot rockets out and saved the marine when his ammo went out...but i swear to it. look at that, go lose a game of starcraft, and study it. or hell...look at the terran campanion icon , its a magazine. if it is a nade launcher, why don't the marines in the game have anything like it...at all. and that hippie probably had an anti tank weapon or something...not a rifle.
Calm down, he'll finish when he finishes. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Oh don't hype my gun up. It's not going to blow everyone's socks off. That's not my intention. I'm doing the job I want to do so that I can be proud of my accomplishment. I really don't need your recognition. I'm learning, just like a lot of other people. This thing has had about 3 skin jobs on it so far, and each time it's getting better.
I decided a while back not to post any progress anymore. Because I wasn't sure what to settle on. I get better at things, so I backtrack and make improvements. But, I guess people really want proof that I'm actually working on it. So, this is similar to the picture I posted the other day on irc to gather some opinions. I erased the work on the top barrel, because it sucked and people agreed.
