Fixed Connection Issue...

<div class="IPBDescription">...but thats just the start of problems</div> Thanks to the speedy suggestions on these forums, I able to quickly resolve the connection problems everyone has been reporting. But I still can't play NS (properly) because I am getting frequent lag spikes of 1000-2000 on every server I tried. This seems to be affecting all 56k modem users, because the pings in the scoreboard all show either below 100 or 1000+ . I did not see any pings of 200 - 400 typical of correctly working 56k . I can only conclude that this is related to whatever WON is up to. The explanation of the original problem given in the annoucements forum mentions the new woncom.lst: <i>uses static IP addresses instead of DNS entries</i>, so I wondered if that could have anything to do with this modem related issue.

Anyone have suggestions to fix the lag problem?

I have 56k and I haven't have lag spikes like that. Try a different server and experiment with the "rate" command in console.

lemnme gues cox cable??? they seem to have trouble, heck so do the servers.. play around and see if this happens on all servers and if so PM me and i will assist you through an isp troubleshooting process

If you upgrade to cable, make sure the coaxial cable you use is bronze, I saw quite the difference when I went from aluminum to bronze.
