Serious Crippling Problem

Yesterday when the WON issue hit, I thought it might be me. So I went and uninstalled HL and then attempted to reinstall the game, and now I can't get it to work, at all. When I do a fresh reinstall it gives me a

"cannot find gfx/shell/ splash.bmp"

I click ok and i got to the main menu, and if i try to play the game in multi or single (or with NS or any other mod) it gives me a "cannot load gfx/pallete.lmp"

I have no idea what's going on.

your install/uninstall went wrong.
Uninstall.
Reboot
Remove HL folder
Remove shortcuts to HL
Re-install HL to different directory
reboot
update HL to 1.1.1.0
reboot
try to play HL online.
If successful re-install NS
try NS.

Yeah, i solved it after I did a reformat. Thanks for the help.
