Here are my observations:
1. Quality of play has taken a big jump for the better.
2. Games last a long time (usually) (1.5 hours)
3. Marines are now winning most games (aliens used to win most games)
When everyone knows how to play the marines are more powerful than the aliens. Pubs suffer heavily from poeple who cant play making the marines lose.

The problem is that even though marines are inherantly stronger, the fact that marines lose because of this 'skill imbalance' as I call it, will probebly lead to more alien nerfs and thus it will become impossible for aliens to win EXCEPT on pub servers. (clan games are getting worse and worse in terms of marine imbalance)

marines are good <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->, as more peps know how to command, pub games are getting tuffer to win as an alien.
the simple things like :
placing the TF against the wall
upgrading weapon damage
securing hives
- as more people start to realize " hmm, this sometimes works! " the game get that much more dificult for the average pub player.
although, the aliens differ as in if ONE skulk is better than the average noob on his team, he can clear a hive solo.
unlike the marine, that if he wanders off to clear a hive, is going to die, bitterly and swiftly.
solutions?
- 2 different versions of NS.
: Clan Mode - ex: marines tuffer to play?
: Pub Mode - More res for both teams etc?
but then again, that would proably split up the whole community, and if one gets to used to one style, readjusting would be like relearning the game each and every time <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->.. thus its not a solution, just a suggestion.

This means people are still figuring out stuff.
Things like the PG were barely used in 1.0, now they are huge.
Give time for people, maybe a year or two, then we will have actually found out the depth of NS tactics, as I am sure there are many others that we havent even thought of yet.
The thing is with priv svrs is that people there know good tactics and can employ then easier than in pubs, so better games are to be had.
Once the game advances more, more things are discovered and they will be used, which is why we really cant comment much on the game as of yet.
The game is still young, hopefully once it matures(and its following) gameplay will reach better standards.
Like TFC, all the n00bs are quickly disappearing and there is a LOT of good gameplay in slitghtly high elvel play <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
It sucks when the Marine team is losing, they have few nodes and no teamwork, then 1 guy with a JP and HMG kills your hive. It takes the entire teamwork ephesis of the Marines and shatters it, 1 guy should NOT be able to kill a hive while 1/2 the team is on him. It dosen't take any teamwork, and hardly any skill or risk.
EDIT: To jump back on topic, some pub servers are still good, when theres a admin there or 90% of the players are regs. Last week, I won two games a aliens when the marines had HMG +JPACK for every soldier. I hate it when people just generalize "always end game when *.* happens." It's just so ignorant and close minded. I mean, you could try to WIN. Maybe you wouldn't have to F4 every time if you actually TRIED.

Killing 5 HA/HMG in a row as a skulk isnt impossible, but its not common. Just like winning against Jetpack/HMG Marines isnt impossible, its just not common.
And just FYI, the server has disabled F4, and most of the time the team IS trying. It seems like its time for YOU to stop making generalizations about people.

That's an unsportsmanlike generalization that denies the marine team the fun of a good game, stemming from a lack of alien skill on whatever server you play on. There is <b>no</b> reason whatsoever that a team should just throw in the towel and quit. You can <b>always</b> make a comeback, if you really try and work as a team.
I completely agree with Tycho on this one, just because you can't win against such and such a strat doesn't mean that you should come to these forums and complain about perceived gameplay imbalances.
