<div class="IPBDescription">the pistol...</div> Imho reacting AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE is the best means plan of action. So for that reason I like to be as quick as possible, which is why I get annoyed with my pistol. I am a sprayer, wish I wasn't, but I am, and for that reason the pistol is a total waste of time for me and nine times out of ten I drop it as I spawn for better movement speed. This is a problem, however, because to drop the pistol you must first selecting the thing and then drop it via the pop up menu. If someone would be kind enough to make a bind or a script, whatever the technical term is (I'm a gamer not a programmer <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->) to drop the pistol at the press of a key, more people could move more quickly and react to problems faster.

    you poor poor soul, that pistol is your best friend, in fact, i walk around with it drawn and use my 10 shots before my lmg

    I prefer a quick straif movement speed to dodge the nasty critters.

    Well, it's not like you can run a lap of ns_bast double quick, but that little bit of extra circle straifing means the skulk has to move his mouse that little bit more, and hopefully right off his mouse mat <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    you can easily bind the dropweapon command in the controls menu or teh config itself. It's there, just unbound when you install ns.

    Pistol is very useful. I usually like to do a few sprays of LMG, 20 or so.. whip out my pistol.. let out a few then switch back to LMG.

    Pistol is also very good for clearing out Skulk's you know will come out a tight corner.

    The pistol is my weapon of last resort, the way of dealing that last piece of damage to that skulk that survived the LMG fire. Or even if i run out of LMG ammo and need to still fight... since lets face it, i cant use the knife with sufficient compitance to attempt to kill something. Also its my sniper style weapon, for picking off those lerks in the rafters and so on.

    I really miss it when i have a welder or mines.

    I use my pistol as my primary weapon and switch over to LMG for close combat. Pistol packs a whooping 200 odd damage in a small package. When combined with LMG its the differnce between getting over run by 3 sulks and killing them.

    Pistol is good if u you skulks walking towards you.. It's excellent for defending vent and stuff..

    when in a major fire fight i burn through my LMG mag them mouse wheel to my pistol, if i get through that i wheel again to knife. it's all about constant fire, as every shot could be the kill shot and re-loading when there's a gang of skulks on your heels =death

    For me when I use the pistol I prefer to use it when they are really close because for me I just can't see a thing close range with an LMG. Also I can unload the pistol in under 3 seconds <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I prefer to use hud_fastswitch 1 and hit the number 2 key to bring up my pistol (I'm not used to pressing the lastinv key and switching back and forth, plus I think it's broken). I just hope I don't fumble and bring out that sharp thing the marine uses to pick his fingers. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The pistol should be your primary weapon at medium to long distances... it has the advatange of precision, that is, where u point the crosshair is where u will shoot. The lmg has a small spray effect. Just drain your pistol as quick as u can then whip out your lmg and, if u didn't kill the skulk with the pistol, proceed to riddle it with bullet holes.

    I'm a sprayer too, I spray with my LMG and I spray with my pistol, as for movement speed, a little bunny hopping <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> goes a long long way...

    All depends on where youa re, your in a long corridor, use pistol first, the damage+ROF+accuracy= dead skulk, ive gotten more skulk pistol kills than skulk lmg kills since i started doing it like this. And it's really annoying to be running around that corner dodging lmg fire, only to get that last hit at the last second with a pistol shot and die. bleh. Really the pistol is your sniper rifle, if all you do is spray your missing, its NOT the amount of fire you put out its how many times you hit, poeple will **** "but i shot you 10 gazzilion times!" when in fact you shot AT my quick little skulk **** a whole bunch and hit me twice, out of a 50 round clip, if your hitting with less than 10 shots your aim is horrid, go practice offline. If you hit with anywhere between 30 and 40 shots you have excellent aim, use your pistol first. anything inbetween 10 and 30, your avarage, learn to burst fire. if you hit with 40 to the full clip, your hacking, go get a life. :/ anyway its all about bursting, NEVER spray the full clip, execpt at EXTREME short range, then just spray away, your dead anyway <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> more than 4 shots from LMG and the spread is very large at long range and bad at medium and short. burst poeple, itll make your shots count, which in turn makes more dead aliens wich, in turn, makes less hassle and more toys from commander. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> but thats only LMG, HMG has NO) aim whatsoever, just spray and pray, great at close range, carp at long, so thats why, USE YOUR PISTOL!!! they call it a "sniper" weapon in the manual for a reason <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The pistol is your best friend in ANY half life mod.
    Anyone that discards this backup resource is either DAMN good , or a fool.

    Yea dropping this seemingly useless tool does speed you up , but i would rather plan on killing that speed demon skulk with 10 rounds of a pistol then a petty knife..

    Also ive found it better to use your pistol to attack offensive chambers or resource nods, then a knife. when you knife a resource node , the enemy KNOWS you are befor your even in sight. "CASHINK CASHINK" The enemy now knows exactly where you are. GOOD PLAN

    Yea, a pistol doesnt do a whole lot of damage to a structure. But id rather have no backup ammo then fumbling with a reload while a skulk chases your pansy a** around a node. =x

    case and point , do what you wish , but the pistol is my dear dear friend , and has saved my newb butt more times then a knife or dodgeing ever has. Yea your faster without it , but the skulks are still faster. marines have the advantage of reliable range in early game.

    Here's what will happen if you go 1v1 with any skulk worth his 2 res carapace:
    You circle him, emptying your clip into the wall.
    He circles you, avoiding your shots rather than closing distance.
    You run out of ammo and start to reload, because you don't have a pistol.
