One Of The Best Games That I've Played In...

What's yours?
I was on the Alien team on a 26ish people server. It was on the ns_eclipse map. We started with the maintenance hive. The marine team quickly set up an outpost at the eclipse hive while we were trying to take it down. Eventually they started pushing us back all the way to computer core. After a long fight we eventually lost CC too. They began setting a second outpost up when our team started gathering outside that hive.
After a series of relentless attacks, (they have the hive pretty secure with defenses), we were finally able to take down the phase gate, then the tf followed. By that time our gorge had already collected enough resource for our second hive. He put that up while he built defenses. All was calm and rather unusually quiet for what seemed like 5 minutes when we saw that our main hive was under attack. It turns out our gorge didn't do such a god job protecting that hive. Our few offense towers were quickly destroyed by incoming marines with HMGs. Our skulks did nothing against such an assault, as one by one, we all fell under their guns. Eventually we lost that hive too.
Now we have the CC hive 2/3 built, about 5 skulks left alive. A few marines charged from eclipse and I was able to take them down by hiding in a vent and attacking from behind. South loop was being taken and a siege was being set up outside CC. A few more skulks died and there were only 2 skulks left. Our last hope was that we can hold them off until our hive was built.
With a little luck, our hive was finally completed as their defenses grew stronger in south loop. The battle was on. Our skulks charged in and surprised a couple marines. (what was once a 2 skulk team, now had about 6-7 skulks counter-attack) We quickly took down those light-armored marines and the phase was down in no time. We kept pushing the marines. One group went the south loop route to maintenance, while another ran the other way around (to near horseshoe) to the other entrance to the hive.
The marines were caught completely offguard as our skulks tried to take down their tf. Eventually we succeeded and their phase gate was down too. Our gorge returned to maintenance and began setting up a hive there. The marine resistance was not very strong at all. We only wondered what they could be up to now, when we discovered that they had a little outpost established outside our cc hive towards the eclipse hive direction. Their HMG marines were no match in the tight corridors, as wave after wave of skulks charged in. A huge lost of casualty can be evidently seen on the Alien team, but we managed to take down their phase gate.
Then, another group of 10 marines charged from their outpost in eclipse to cc again, our skulks hid in the vents and managed to hold off their operation, while still satisfying our need for food
The rest is self explanatory, we managed the 2 hives, took down most of their resource towers to minimize their weapon production, and began assaulting their base. The marine base finally fell as our third hive was about done.
I don't think I have ever had that much fun in a game. Sure, some can argue that the marines didn't know how to shoot, but our comeback from having only 2 skulks left to having 3 hives up was a result of some good teamwork and good timing.

That never happens in small servers with seasoned veterans.
Argh...
I feel the need rising again.
See you on the battlefield, my brethren.

A recent game i was in, 12v12...I got stuck on aliens (wasn't happy about that, because we all know marines resource advantage in 12v12). The map, ns_tanith (seems to be where MOST of my good games take place, probably because its not as JPer friendly). The marines secured a LOT of resources quickly, about 4-5 of them, including base, and this of course allowed them to Tech up an insane amount by the time we got the 2nd hive up at Fusion. Marines had Waste so turret farmed even a Fade who took 5 steps in was cut to peices. They pushed on us with HA/GL from Waste Handling, until they reached Cargo Storage, they began to secure that, and even got some Seiges up, which got a few shots on the hive. We rushed as much as we could, Fades, Skulks, Lerks, Gorges...everyone, and were able to drop the TF and Phase, saving the hive before it could be taken out (it MUST have been close, I tell ya). The marines regrouped and setup just outside Cargo with a mini-base (complete with Armory) so as to prevent us from building Cargo up. We had to clear this...we made this our primary concern, and continued to hit it. Meanwhile, yours-truely went to the back corner of Waste Handling, and began to Lerk it as much as possible, I managed to take the Phase and several turrets down before I was noticed, and had to run for my life...at the least, I caused a distraction, they quickly rebuilt. Cargo at this point still wasn't secure, although we took the Phase and TF down at least 5 times. I was continueing to Lerk Waste, and making a lot of progress...I didn't get any resistance. We decided to we HAD to start hitting their wallet if we wanted a chance, so we cleared Reactor Room (2 res), then waste, then res just outside waste, 4 marine RTs down...we didn't see many heavies after that (heh). Just as waste was being finished up, and the gorge started to build...Sat Comm starts to blink, We hadn't been protecting that...all of 2 seconds after it started to blink, was it dead. We rushed over, they managed to setup a TF, several turrets, seiges, Armory, Phase, just about EVERYTHING inside the hive before they killed the hive, without being noticed! We put Waste up, and told the Fades not to die We cleared their spawn..leaving them with 1 res, and once the 2nd hive was up..again, we just made continues pushes on Sat Comm till the marines gave up and called GG. Took nearly 3 hours to finish that game, they had us near death several times.

The fact we tried so hard, it was a good laugh hearing my team complain...
-psygnosis-
It was back in 1.0. We were all fresh out of the gates as ns was released. We hit the alien team and we were all green, down to the bacteria below us. The marine team was just as green. What proceded was an eight hour game that enlightened my life. From start to finish the game was epic. We played on ns_eclipse. The game proceded to go back and forth. At one moment we thought we would win the game with our 3 hives. While the next minute the marines were rushing in and took out 1 of the hvies and reinstituted their dominance over the hive.
We had people leaving the game only to come back 3 hours later to find themselves amazed the same match was still on.
I have never in my life experienced such gaming pleasure as this game. No game has ever made me truly feel the urgency and pain of conflict as this match. We had played it so long that it was almost part of us. It trancended from a mere game to something more than that.
It matters not who won this game. I won't say who. Those of you that played similar games in 1.0 know how this went. They were gems of a game. Rare and beautiful. It was a shame to see them go.
Of course if we played 1.0 now it would be so unbalanced it would be just stupid.
