My mic is good (plantronics 70) and it records good quality.
I've had reports of my voice being choppy and laggy in game, so i set voice_loopbact to 1, and had a listen for myself.
when im in game and i press the voice comms button, instead of allowing voice comms for the whole time i have it held down, it flicks on and off quickly! and thus disrupting all my voice comms!

Sorry if this topic has been asked before, but the search in these forums in more tempermental than me mrs, and i cant get it to do anything i want!
cheers!

Do you have your video card set to perfromance or visual quality? Somtimes if its not setup right it will lag your games.
I use 56k and a plantronics 90 and I get perfect voice comm. Some other people have reported this problem too; I hope valve can get around to fixing this soon. Try posting around the CS forums to see if anyone can help, because alot more people will see the topic.
Of course, voicecomm is pretty useless in cs pub games. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
