Uh, you're posting on a message board that exists in virtual space, about a game set in the near future with aliens vs. super-duper space marines.
Of all people we should not be the ones complaining about electronically enhanced music...if it sounds good who cares it isn't real? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
ugh no offense to the thread creator but I have to voice my opinion on this band. Basically, they are the reason I never listen to the radio anymore. Pure crap, their singer can't sing... and if it were a "good" band otherwise (inventive lyrics, musical style) i would forgive this. But the truth is, it is all the same old junk that the record companies have been puking out to turn a profit. And while i don't mind, or even like, angsty music (radiohead, the eels, and smashing pumpkins are among my favorite bands) these bands have all been inventive and deeper than "Everyone hates me, girls are mean, i wanna kill myself" as well as being musically talented. Unfortunately, many other bands that were at one time pretty good have also fallen victim to selling out and ending up sounding a lot like linkin park. blah i say
I'm sorry but I don't see how you think LP sounds like everyone else...and their musical style is that of rock/rap and some electronica...
Also, There are some parts in their song when you can't even hear the guitar, maybe just bass, but anyways, all you can hear is electronica and Chester is singing to that...you don't hear that alot in other bands.
And also, 2nd edit ;p , If you include Mike Shinoda as a lead singer, which he pretty much is, then you have two lead singers, which is kinda cool when their both singing and switching off. Or when Mike is rapping and Chester is singing. Pretty unique if you ask me...
Last time I checked, there's practically no other rock band like that. /me thinks of Mass Hysteria, which is kind of the same, but a french rock band.

I'm not trying to dissect your reply and prove you wrong, but from listening to Linkin Park quite a bit, I'm not hearing this...Their lyrics are more..."I should have done this, I'm over that/Not anymore/Enough, or Hindsight"
I've never heard references to suicide, girls, or even anything remotely to everyone hating them.

They have a distinct sound that others have attempted, but Linkin Park succeeds where basically every other similar group has failed.
I'm not a huge fan so I don't know their names (<i>...looking back at Sirus' post and pic...</i>), but the first singer, Chester, does actually have a good singing talent for this type of music. Sure, there's some typical screaming in some songs, but he has a distinct sound of his own that melds well with both the style of music and with Mike's backing vocals.
The first song I really heard was "In The End", and I was immediately hooked (<i>my brother bought the cd when it first came out</i>). I listened to the rest of the album, and every song has its own distinct tone and feel, despite Merk's comment of "Listen to one song and you've heard them all".
I agree to a very small extent with that comment as 'Somewhere I Belong' is a fairly typical Linkin Park track, but that's because they're continuing working with a formula that works. The sound is their own, so why change it? <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Well Im always on the look out for new old bands every band in existence tbfh, and as far as I can see it Linkin Park were a failed mediocre Californian band that got scouted by some heartless company and revamped with a new image and synthed and hyped to produce the mediiocrity "cash-in" along the line of say S-Club7. They are far from inspirational, this type of music is nothing new if you look for it (though examples elude me at this point trust me they exist though this point is weak they DO exist). The lyrics are dull and appeal to a much younger audiance (12-15) due to their lack of true meaning or content on issues of value (which again may seem weak by itself does fit the imagine and incomprehensible popularity of this band). The singers cant sing outside of a studio, the own band recognises their lack of musical talent (from an interview with linkin park see Keerang and MTV archives for more details). Im sorry you havent convinced me I still feel that LP are a corporate cash drive, I have reviewed all their songs and am happy to say I have now deleted all these songs.
Heh. Hrm. To say the audience of LP is 12-15 is funny, since MTV and such is glorifying Rap. Yes, everyone from 10-30 now listens to rap, and yes, the content is bland, and yes, the only topic is their money and ho's. Rap on !
Honestly, to even begin to label or categorize music is quite difficult, since it's all relative to opinion. Since I listen to LP then I guess im in the 12-15 year old audience, yet I also listen to Yanni, so what does that make me?
I didn't want to get into this, since I only said they we're coming out with a new CD, I regret doing so, because now, everyone wants to pop in, say they hate them and leave. Isn't it grand? Now opinion is fact.

I didn't listen to Crawling or In the end for months, then I started listening to it, and remembered that it is a good song.

So LP doesn’t do it for me
But they do have a sort of different “sound” to the rest but…… then again every band have their own little type of “sound” nothing new
Oh yea radio music is evil
