Will it be as sad as in other good mods?
Hi everybody!
I'm new here and my head is spinning from reading dozens of threads. So please bear with me if I ask something that already has been discussed in another thread.
Personally I am very excited about NS: I wanted a game like that when I got my C64. I search for such an experience since I played on my Amiga500. When I owned my first own PC I always wanted to play a game like that. Finally Teamplay-based games start to emerge but there's always one big problem about them: The people playing it!
Usually I play DoD, because I believe it pushes the players hardest to act as a team (you can't cap many flags alone, ...). This are some quotes from remarks I hard to endure (I took the freedom to correct spelling erros and a some kind of english grammar to it):
* (Me using Voicecomm to tell people where snipers are, ask for covering fire, ...): "Shut up! You are disturbing the game, ****!!"
* (Me trying to cap a 2-men flag and asking for support): "..." "..." "..." (Nothing happens and I get killed)
* (Me trying to cap the same flag and using Voicecomm to call for support): "Shut the **** up you n00b!"
* (Me trying to cap again and writing for help): "Stop spamming! Forget about the flags! They're just slowing down the game you n00b!"
* (Me asking 2 teammates to come with me and clean a route to a flag):
1) "..." ".." (=nothing happens)
2) Just like Lemmnigs they run into heavy machine gun fire about 5 times each
3) Me:"Why didn't you listen? If we act togehter, use grenades and attack together we can take them out!"
4) Them: "Shut up, you *** n00b! A *** like you hasn't *** and can *** %%§%..."
5) They continue to run into MG-fire and get killed until I quit the server.
Sadly this experience repeats itself over and over. Sometimes a few groovy people find together on a public server and really play together (Sure we get accused as cheaters if 3-4 people continue to wipe out the entire enemy team (6-10) over and over through tactics and coordination). But this happens very seldom.
To conclude this long post: What does the NS-teams plan to come up with to prevent those things from happening to NS? Will you just kickban deathmatchers after some warnings? Will they simply be deprived of all weapons and armor? Will the commander be able to warn them and then disable their guns?
Sure everyone will agree that those people run nearly every game on the net. Something has to be done. But what? 'Cause simply switching the server won't be easy with a sophisticated mod like NS which I expect not to spread as widely as perhaps CS.
Greetings and thanks for reading!

The llama problem you describe is supposed to be solved by a number of things:
- The alien side with its DM-like gameplay where your average llama may act all his immaturity out without of actually harming anyone elses experience.
- The commander, who'll simply not issue ammo to llamas.
- The fact that a single marine won't stand a chance against the aliens, thus making marine DMming pretty frustrating.
I'm therefore fairly certain that NS won't be all that appealing to lamers, but we'll have yet to see what creative ways will be developed to ruin this game, so real llama prevention won't be possible before version 2.
Now that sounds really good to me! I really hope those measures will do the trick. Are that all the measures you invented or just a few that the public may know about until release?
I have some further questions but I guess they'll better be posted into the Ideas Forum.
Greetings!

However, the commander has the resources to make you win...
YOu become a waste of resources, you don't get them...
Borg philosophy there
BUt also, like VS, if you don't stay together, you're toast. So stick together and play nice. THat, and the guys you see on this forum are all pretty nice. We don't bite..... hard.... and we have a deep respect for teamwork.
Anywho.
Welcome to the board, be SURE to check out at -least- the General Forum FAQ, which has links to very nearly every site that you could possibly want that will answer very nearly every question ever asked about NS. Well, sorta. It'll give you a good idea of how the game works, that's for sure.
