    f-word --> "love"

    "F*** you!" changes to "Love you!"
    I do that on my server. The regulars respond with "I love you too." <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Ya, replacing all swears with **** hides how many letters they original use and can make the sentence confusing. Sure sounds good to me.

    I have nothing against the occasional bad word. it's when it is used constantly when there are better alternatives that I have a problem with. There's a thread in the Discussions forum that touches on this subject (incidentally, the title is "Counter-Strike causes potty-mouth?").

    Though on the turret vs. turrent issue, yes. It is imperative that everyone knows that turret is spelled T-U-R-R-E-T.

    guys get with the program. "turrent" is a joke. Everyone knows its spelled turret. Last i checked gorge wasnt spelled fatty. It's called a joke, nickname, or alias.

    I believe that vB is evil and replaces everything with the same replacer. The other forum i go to wanted to do that too, but if you type a swear it would come out as

    But where did it come from?

    I met this newbie only recently who spelled turrets turrents. (Well, basically, he actually spelled it turents but he left out letters in other words too <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> )

    Was he kidding? I am not sure. He seemed pretty determined to be innocently nub. This was only like last week so I'm sure he did not originate it (or the NS community is much smaller than I felt) - if not who did? If he is kidding, then what source did he get it from? If not, why does he spell it like that?

    Maybe there is something about the word turrets and how it's used to cause some people to assume letter 'n'.. just WTH is happening? <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I wish the filter didn't replace one-three-three-seven with "elite".

    Anywho, a spell checker included with the forum would be a nice feature, but a spell checker built into the swear filter would be icky. Language isn't meant to be TOTALLY brainless <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    If there's going to be a profanity-changer, you should make it like in America's Army: Operations where any words pertaining to "camp" are changed:

    "camping" -> "using tactics"
    "campers" -> "tacticians"

    omg are you serious, do they do that?? thats great.

    I always thought the concept of camping was situational. Camping while the game is on IS tactics, while if the game is over and your camping to stay alive just another minute longer is just stupid and isn't tactics. its just lame.

    I think thats awsome that they do that.
