Uh oh. I just realized that the queen model is positioned about a meter below where the hitboxes are. Parts of the Queen are getting clipped through floors and stuff. After carefully repositioning it in the correct hitboxes, I noticed that all of the animations sequences are out of wack. Does this mean all of the animations need to be re-done with the correct hitbox position?
Moving the hive into the correct position will happen next version release. As to the hit boxs <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> I dont know much about them, but shooting the hive at the moment seems to work fine as far as I can see, and if moving the hit boxs causes troubles ... maybe we should just leave em be <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I looked a little on the model in HLMV and i think that if you use the chrome effect on the strings (Is it called hive.bmp?) it actually looks a bit more slimy.. It adds a nice effect IMHO.

Design Notes: With the way NS treats the animation sequences for the Hive, it is redundant to have a functioning "birth" animation. The reason is outlined here: When a game of NS begins, the hive runs the "spawn" animation sequence. This animation runs once and then the hive sits motionless until an alien player dies. When this happens, the hive runs the "birth" animation sequence once. After this sequence is run, the hive no longer runs anymore "idle" animation sequences and it just sits motionless. Having a functional birth animation sequence would mean that the Alien Queen would sit in a petrified state for 95% of the game, so, the birth sequence has been replaced with the looping idle animation sequence. In doing this, the Alien Queen Hive will appear alive and life-like throughout the entire game!

I did LOTS of model convertion to daphistos model too. I connected the arms, the eggsack, the head and all stuff to the body. And I connected the arm parts to each other that were like "Rayman" before. Before the body part intersections sucked and wasted polygons. The neck and eggsack-body connections were almost flat...
