uh... use your headphones backwords? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Really though.. I don't have a clue what's causing it.. sorry.
Yeah, I tried putting them in backwards, but they're really uncomfortable that way and tend to fall out. This audio channel reversal seems to only happen in HL. I have no problems with other 3d shooters.
[edit] I know in Quake 2 (unsure about Quake 1) that there was a snd_ command to specifically flip the audio channels. I'm hoping that HL has one.
Heheh, those are the only type of audio devices that let me stay immersed in the game, give excellent stereo separation, and let me use the microphone without game noises getting in.
Only Halflife has it mixed up. It might have something to do with the fact that I have a A3D sound card, although I made sure it was unchecked in the audio menu.
It makes sense because shortly before I uninstalled HL a long time ago, Valve broke the A3D sound card support by having HL crash if you were to turn on A3D. With patch 1109 (I think), they fixed the A3D crash, but in turn, reversed the audio. To my knowledge, there isn't a fix on correcting the problem except to wait for the next patch in hopes that they care enough about it.
[EDIT] Yes, I have A3D turned off. It seems to affect all sound cards that have the Vortex 2 chip, even if you don't enable A3D.

Well, is it just halflife, or is it your whole comp that's backwords sounded?
