<div class="IPBDescription">or stop and smell the roses</div> Just a little note on my tactic for taking out marines that are running around like chickens with their head cut off with the knife in hand.
I just stop.
Jepp that's right I stop dead in my tracks. In my excperince the biggest problem with killing a marine with a knife is that he is all over the place so it's hard to aim. Point is that it is hard for him to aim as well. Most of the time he is just slashing at random.
What will happen most of the time when you stop moving is that the marine will continue running around for a while. Besides giving you a good laught it will help you move into a position where you have the advantage and where you can see where he is running. A bit of distance is often the only thing you need. Might sound strange for a skulk to want distance from his prey but the bite of a skulk has longer reach than the knife. So if you move away a bit then you can take him out without letting him get into knife range.
I have done this as a melee fade as well. Don't know about the reach of the claws as opposed to the knife but it helps you aim.

It's kinda like when you catch an alien who's gestating, run in front of him, crouch, whip out the knife and start slashing while continuously pressing the taunt bind. Pure ownage. Feels good being a plick sometimes hehe...
Thus, my usual tactic is to step back, and trade hits with the marine.
If you're making a run at their face, the best they can do is stand still, take the hit, and knife you back.
When faced with a knife monkey i'll just run up a wall. They _have_ to pull out a gun and reload if they want to hit you and not die from parasite, at which point you jump down and bite them in the ****.
most of time i can avoid being knifed by marines simply by killing them first. (run up from behind - bite - turn around - bite works every time)
An enemy running at you with a knife always has his gun loaded and ready to fire.
