people say "turrent" because the -nt ending is very common. typing a lot of common words will eventually make your brain auto-type common word endings such as -tion, -ing, etc. -ent is one of them.

The word 'Turrent' is a deliberate misspelling from the Tribes community. Kind of like some people are starting so type 'weldor' instead of welder. Its just a fun play on words and usually not the ranting of some illiterate peon. Notice the original quoted paragraph is set out in perfect fashion with no other incorrect spellings?

Can't believe no ones mention siege 'cannons' yet... That's one of my major pet-peeves about spelling in NS, well, in everything aswell. If you going to speak the language, speak it properly...
man i bet you guys all bring clubs to your english classes and whack people in the skull when they don't answer a question right? Seriously though, how much can you possibly care how other people spell (with the exception of someone "talking" in "elite" for entire paragraphs, that makes me cry for today's youth.)
Jeez... I admit I didn't read the whole thread here... but...
How can you guys possibly think "Turrent" is new?
Hell, I remember it from back when Tribes 1 roamed the primitive earth... Which was at least four years ago. I don't think anyone can pin down it's true origins, but it's older than Half Life.
Turrent is older than Tribes, just like "nukular" is older than George W. and any number of other words. To tell the truth I really don't care when people actually pronaounce words a little wrong, that's just dialect, really. (Except for nukular... that is inexcusable.) What bugs me is that people are not only starting to type phonetically for no discernible reason (I mean really, are you saving that much time typing "gr8" instead of "great?") but turning sounds into words. For those of you that may not know: even when you pronounce "well" as "welp" sometimes, YOU DO NOT WRITE "welp," or "whelp." Your write "well." A whelp is a puppy or cub; it will never mean "well" no matter how hard you try.
Sorry, that is one of my pet peeves. It is so sad when a person doesn't even bother to be proficient with their own language. It's not hard: read a book or two, maybe a magazine every once in a while. Even Truckin' Magazine, PC Gamer, and the *gasp* Half-Life Manual have complete, correctly spelled sentences somewhere in them.
Henceforth, all users of butchered english shall be shot.

For some reason, this reminds me of one of the most famous games (or at least game intros) ever:
In A.D. 2101 War was beginning. Onos: What happen ? Skul: Somebody set up us the seige turrent Skul: We get signal Onos: What ! Skul: Main screen turn on Onos: It's You !! Comm: How are you gentlemen !! Comm: All your hive are belong to us Comm: You are on the way to beep beep Onos: What you say !! Comm: You have no chance to survive make your WoL Comm: HA HA HA HA .... Onos: Take off every 'lurk' Onos: You know what you doing Onos: Move 'lurk' Onos: For great justice
