Could you have a map updater? we could run it once a month and it would give us the aproved new maps so we wont have to search for em. It would also add to the replay value... jus an auto updater is all i ask

I love that idea RBHY, I always hate having to find the latest DOD maps online just cause all the servers decide to pick em up and use them. This'd save time and make sure there was a variety of maps and keep the game full of life after it was released. However, we must make sure we get the mod done first. I vote "Yea" for this, but suggest that flay find someone else to do it if it will take too long.
This is a nice feature and all, but then what about new code? New models? New sounds? This would all have to be put in as well. If you're doing that, then you have to worry about security, because someone could hack the auto-updater to download a virus or rogue content. Of course this wouldn't happen in the beginning, but as NS gets more players, it would just happen suddenly one day. The amount of bandwidth we would use would also increase very quickly with new players. Suddenly we're paying hundreds of dollars (at least) a month in bandwidth charges.
It would be nice, but it's not a nice small thing to do, it's huge. It works for the NSTR because there are so few people that use it.

I figure out that all approved maps will have links at the readyroom, though. At least until it's hundreds of them.
I fear bad maps of the likes of awp_map will come in huge numbers too NS after a while. *Shudder*

Those lamers will come in and make a map where there is no commander, and all the marines will be in a line with LMG's in front of them...
Must get good maps to offset the bad. Hmmmm... how about maps that are remakes of the levels in System Shock 1 + 2?
That is a good idea, but maps(especially big maps) are not small files. On a 56k modem, it takes about 10-20 minutes to dl a decent sized map. So all the people wih DSL and cable would have the new maps and the 56ker wouldn't.
