<div class="IPBDescription">range</div> When the range for a siege cannon is said to be 1100 is that worldcraft units?

Yes, but if you add the distance from the turret factory it's more like 2300

what is the distance for a tf?

    TF range = 1200 units
seige cannon range = 1100 units
combined range from TF to max is 2300 one way.
so 4600-5000 space between hives is good for no double seige points?

?btw, what is the detection/shooting range for the regular human turrets, the non-siege ones?

Good dear lord, just placed a circle with 2,300 units in radius.. you can only fit two of those <i>in the entire possible mapping area</i> (-4096/+4096) fer christs sake.. yikes <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Useless fact of the day: converted to metric units, using my own homegrown scale so don't take it too literally, that's about 58 meters. An entire map by the same scale clocks in at little over 200x200x200 meters.

Actually, using a radius of 2300 isn't correct. The diameter of a Turret Factory is 1200, not a radius of 1200. So the circle's total radius is no more than 1700, but this is with perfectly central placement of the sieges at the outer edges of the factory's radius. So a total diameter of 3800.

    EDIT: Changed my math around.

Also consider that walls will further restrict the placement of your tfac and siege. You can only double siege from a room who's interior comes within 1100 units of two hives, assuming you build both the tfac and sieges in that room only.

    Ah, cheers, thanks for the Math 101 there, that helps a bit <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

If this doesnt illustrate the formula...I dont understand at all.
But I think this is right.

i think there is a mistake on that pic - 600+1100=1700. you have 1100 again at the bottom, unless i am misreading.....

again, anyone have the action range of a regular mg turret?

    Its not 600 + 1100... its 600 + 550 = 1150

I cant imagine they refer to "TF range" as a radius whilst refering to "Seige Range" as a diameter...or is that the case?

    edit: typo

    so whats the dealy?

i really would like to know for sure what the range of a siege cannon is.
I dont really care about the tf range really.
  • ParasiteParasite Join Date: 2002-04-13 Member: 431Members
Well..the "range" is 1100...what noone seems to be clear on is wether that is radius or diameter :/
  • gagglegaggle Join Date: 2002-12-11 Member: 10568Members
Range sounds like radius-speek to me, ie. it can shoot something 1100 units away in all directions.

    ..
    ..
I just realised I clearly don't know for super-sure either, so I guess I'm not really contributing with all that much here.. eh, at least the thread got bumped, I hope someone with a firm grasp of the various ranges will care to respond.

this picture from <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=20431&hl=' target='_blank'>NS strat plan thread</a> (<i>check it out!</i>) clearly shows that the RADIUS for a TF is 600(<span style='color:red'>red </span>), and the RADIUS for a seige is 1100(<span style='color:green'> green</span>). this makes the RADIUS from TF to seige max hit is 1700, so Hives should be 3400+ apart to avoid double seiging from a single TF.

<i>can't figure out the MG radius, diameter seems like 900, so radious should be 450ish? (<span style='color:yellow'>yellow </span>)</i>
