<div class="IPBDescription">Question about the quick combat</div> Hello all.

I'm new to NS, and I just want to say that It's an awsome game. Beats the living crap out of battlefield and all those new multiplayer games that is supposed to have teamwork <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Just one question tho.

Why do all conflicts end so quick and suddenly? I mean, in the beginning of each fight, it is going well and all(usually plays as marine). You move with your squad, shooting aliens and building stuff etc. Then you hear someone on the mic, saying that the enemy have fades, and what I have learned the hard way, is that the game is over. They begin assaulting the bases all over the place, lunching acids in your face, and killing off every marine like flies.

Is it supposed to end this quick and suddenly? Sometimes it goes the other way. We(the <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->) get better weapons, and soon you notice the alien team moaning that they are screwed and what not.

Maybe not a question, more an observation, but I still need somekind of answer <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

i find it depends on who is on each team. I've been in games where a marine team has 2 hives, level 2 upgrades on armour and weapons, and the aliens have come back to win with 3 hives <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Then, theres other games, where, for some freak reason, a 3 hive alien team lost <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

All depends on the skill of players.... and if they can work as a team

Put it this way: it's normal for the battle to be over quickly, but it's not supposed to happen. It's also normal for individual fights to be over fairly quickly in the early game (ie: skulk vs LA\LMG). It's not supposed to be game over when the aliens get fades; this sort of balance thing is going to get tweaked in 1.1.

The problem with your game is that the marines still play too defensively. It allows the aliens free reign over the map and that gives them their 2nd hive frightfully fast. What you do want is to make teams go around on the map, fighting for control of the ressources and perhaps even shoot the alien gorge. You need to skill up to do that, learn how to listen for aliens pitter patter across the floor - which means shut up and stop bunny hopping so you can hear. Also you must try not to make the commander spend too much money on fortifying bases. He should aggressively pursue getting heavy armor or jet packs. If you are all new to the game, ha is best since jps are hard to use properly. But most of all, try play more aggressive, otherwise you give away the map to the aliens too easily.

Once I had a 3-hour long game... till the server crashed...

BTW, the games with HMG/HA vs fades combats are the best and the longest.

Firestorm - Was I in that game? I can't remember.

To Frank - Stick it out dude, once you find a good server, without the nubs (and I mean the disruptive ones, not just new players) you'll discover that games become better, and become extremely hard fought on occasion.

Specify if you're in the US/Europe/UK/Wherever, I'm sure people will be able to point you to decent servers. The best way to play when you first arrive on one of the 'good' ones? Admit you're new. Don't try to be flash, hang with teammates, and follow someone everywhere. Pretty soon, you pick up the talents, new people will join, and suddenly everything's changed, and you're leading 5 other players through twisted routes, keeping them alive & praying they'll be enough cannon fodder left when you reach a battlezone.

    Welcome to Natural Selection. <img src='http://watmm.com/forum/html/emoticons/happy.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

Getting behind enemy lines... hehehe. Unless your that lone marine, hiding, watching [alien] [onos bite] [marine] appear every two seconds untill it stops alltogether, then you just know. They haven't just left base, they are coming for you, so you sit, waiting, until you hear that first patter of feet. Then you KNOW it's over..... --> LOSER! <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> <-- WINNAR!
