I think it goes to show how Lame the server is if they have to block the word Lag. At least thats me, I just thought id share.

think thats lame,.. I have a list of about 20 servers where the word "jew" can get you banned after three mentions of it. Sad thing is both me and friend got banned becuase he is jewish and we were planning a clan fight around his church servis

that is terrible...
Cept you two were probably the only two people to ever use the word appropriately on the server so i guess you got gipped.
and people yelling "LAG OMG" every time there is the tiniest spike makes me want to force them to play on a 56k for all eternity as revenge for their annoyingness. If there is lag, EVERYONE knows it, and we do not need it announced.

How does the word 'jew' get into a conversation about him going to a church service? I can see 'What time do you get done with temple' or something to that effect, but I can't see why you would need the word 'jew'.

people seem to forget the fact the majority of the people that have broadband actually <b>pay</b> for it.

I think Im entitled to uninterupted internet service if I pay for it.

I'm of the general idea that you may only complain about lag if it's server side. Client side, and maybe you'll have to get of AOL or quit downloading 30 things at the same time.

Another note: Insulting a man's internet connection is tantamount to insulting other manly things. I prefer not to talk **** to anyone unless they're on AOL. Then it's free range night.

I find complaining about Lag is like complaining that your bus did not arriving on time. There are so many variables what is really to blame?

It's all circumstance.

I've played NS with between 200-400 ping and it goes surprisingly well (Rare I'm on Cable).

My ping averages 200-250 (on good servers) but spikes up to 1000 often and occasionally goes off the scale (up to 4095).

Subscribers there might very well end up paying more for their HPB privilege than you pay for your LPB.

This is the case with me, being the only area in my city which is not broadband enabled is VERY frustrating!! <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> Especially when I have no lag for half the game the it rockets up to 4095 from 150-250!!

I don't hate lag killers, I just hate not having broadband (my lag is not another players fault). I do however mention my lag to my team mates to let them know not to expect help anytime soon.

I'll tell you what REALLY bugs me about people saying "lag".

I use VNC to access my server when I need to update etc (it's a windows box, plus VNC is one of the few programs I can use at work without having to install it (no registry editing at work ;()) So I VNC to the server to either update security software or to install or troubleshoot a new plugin etc, and all I see on the console is "OMG LLALAAAGGG"" "SH***Y SERVER GAH LLLAAAAAGGG"

What I have to say to this:
You want to play on a server that gives you no lag spikes for 99% of the time, has awesome pings and is regularly maintained that's fine, welcome. If you want to moan like a weak beach about that 1% or less (in fact much less now I think about it) then you can quite frankly p155 off. I provide that server out of my own internet connection, with my own hardware and I spend my own time keeping it adminned so you can have trouble free games, and you have the gall to complain about the lag on those small occasions I have to do essential maintenance!!!!!

I haven't banned the use of any words, though I might start llamaing people who complain about lag when I'm actually sorting out problems FOR THEM!

I can only guess that you're being sarcastic about electicity being faster than the speed of light, but I can't work out the rest.

When people actually understand what's causing the ping spikes on your server, i doubt there would be complaints. My introduction to it was to join your server, play 15 minutes and then see a server message saying "ok, i'm going to make you all lag now". That didn't go down very well.

Since then i've had a good explanation of why the server sometimes spikes, and i can't see how anyone who understands the reason behind it could complain.

Mainly I tell people that there's going to be lag because of VNC and not to worry it won't last long.

TBH with the number of people who don't actually read the server messages then say "WTH lag!!11" I've become more than a little irritated by it, though I do try to explain it most of the time, or just apologise for the lag...

Most OPs I know usually just take the server off-line at the end of a map for a min or two (after warning) to update.
